This entry is part 8 of 11 in the series Psalms

Brothers & sisters could  you please prayerfully read &  meditate upon this Psalm  today? These are the words of  Almighty God to us that have a covenant with Him!

Psalm 50  is talking about God coming to judge His people. Judgment begins at the House of God before He judges the world.

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?1 Peter 4:17.

Are we really ready for this?

For those who like to ask for dates of when will this happen, I will say: ‘I don’t know’ it will be at God’s timing.  But this is in His Word & I believe Him. I also believe this maybe soon, in this generation. But you don’t have to believe me, or anyone, you should always ask Him everything for yourself. The Church is already  full of apostasy, full of those that know the truth but obey not the gospel of God.

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance2 Peter 3:9

PSALM 50

The mighty God, even the Lord, hath spoken,
and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.
Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.
Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence:
a fire shall devour before him,
and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.
He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth,
that he may judge his people.
Gather my saints together unto me;
those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.
And the heavens shall declare his righteousness:
for God is judge himself. Selah.

Hear, O my people, and I will speak;
O Israel, and I will testify against thee:
I am God, even thy God.
I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices
or thy burnt offerings, to have been continually before me.
I will take no bullock out of thy house,
nor he goats out of thy folds.
10 For every beast of the forest is mine,
and the cattle upon a thousand hills.
11 I know all the fowls of the mountains:
and the wild beasts of the field are mine.
12 If I were hungry, I would not tell thee:
for the world is mine, and the fullness thereof.
13 Will I eat the flesh of bulls,
or drink the blood of goats?

14 Offer unto God thanksgiving;
and pay thy vows (H5088 = promises) unto the most High:
15 and call upon me in the day of trouble:
I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

16 But unto the wicked God saith,
What hast thou to do to declare my statutes,
or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?
17 Seeing thou hatest instruction,
and castest my words behind thee.
18 When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him,
and hast been partaker with adulterers.
19 Thou givest thy mouth to evil,
and thy tongue frameth deceit.
20 Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother;
thou slanderest thine own mother’s son.
21 These things hast thou done, and I kept silence;
thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself:
but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.
22 Now consider this, ye that forget God,
lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.

23 Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me:
and to him that ordereth his conversation ( #1870 =Ways) aright will I shew the salvation of God.

Verses 1-6 : Describes the Majesty of God, He is the Righteous Judge. He calls heavens & hearth to His court as witnesses (Deut. 4:26, 30:19, 32:1) . And some may be surprise but that Judge is our Lord Jesus Christ! (John 5:22, Rev. 5:11-14).

7-13: God is the only Judge because He is the creator, He owns everything, the world is His & everything in it. He doesn’t need our empty sacrifices, true faith is of the heart.
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams1 Sam. 15:22.
He wants a loving relationship. This part has to do with our love for God, the great commandment:
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Matthew 22:37

14-15: Only one who acknowledges Him can give Him thanks.  If there is a relationship with God, He will hear & answer our prayers, but sometimes prayers can be hindered by sin in our lives. We need to make sure there is nothing hindering our prayers, like disobedience to His Word: rebellion, lies, pride, unconfessed sin, unforgivingness, dishonesty & unfulfilled promises (1 Peter 3:7)

Verses 16-22 : I thought the wicked was the sinners, the unbelievers, but then I realize He is talking about the false believer, the one who calls himself a believer but is not really following Him. A person that declares God’s words but also uses his mouth for evil, is disobedient doesn’t apply God’s Word to him only to others, doesn’t do what God says, just pretends so he can be seen by others, uses the gospel for his personal gain.  It’s a Christian that doesn’t exposes sin, and speaks deceitfully, lie to others.  Sees someone stealing but doesn’t do anything, partakes with adulterers. This part of the Psalm has to do with the ‘love to others’.
And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.’ (Matthew 22: 39-40).
God sees everything & keeps silence, because He is full of compassion, He waits for repentance, but soon God will reprove and expose their sins. He will star with the ones in position of leadership (Ezekiel 34, Ezekiel 9:6, Deut. 31:28)

23 – But still in His great mercy God is reaching out and calling for repentance, to come back to Him. Let us draw closer to Him brothers & sisters, when still  there is time but please let us not delay any longer.

And the Spirit and the bride say, come . . .He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.”  Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus!  (Rev. 22:17-20)
