For this reason it&#8217;s necessary to better refrain from <strong>teaching<\/strong> the Word of God to a big group (this isn&#8217;t witnessing) or become Bible teachers without understanding the <strong>whole<\/strong> counsel of God first.<\/p>\n<p>One of the main responsibility of Bible teachers, church leaders &amp; any mature Christian is to <strong>protect the truth of the Gospel from false teachings. <\/strong>This includes the misuse of many bible verses by some denominations, but the abuse of misquoted Scriptures still continues until these days.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Another bible verse that have been misused by many church leaders, is 1 Timothy 2:12, this verse is used in order to prohibit women to teach in the church and to exclude them from many kind of ministries inside the church. I myself for a long time didn&#8217;t agree with women teaching in a church setting to both men &amp; women, even I had found some contradictions in the bible about that, but I couldn&#8217;t explain them. Please let us check the context of the next bible verse to see what is the real meaning.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span id=\"en-NKJV-29732\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-15\"><\/span><span id=\"en-AKJV-29728\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-11\">Let the woman <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">learn in silence<\/span> with all subjection. <\/span> <span id=\"en-AKJV-29729\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12\u00a0<\/sup>But <strong>I suffer <\/strong>(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G2010\/suffer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">G1020<\/a>)<strong> not a woman to teach, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #800000;\">nor<\/span><em> &#8216;<\/em><\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">to <\/span><span style=\"color: #800000;\">usurp authority over<\/span><strong>&#8216; <\/strong>(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/BibleVerse\/1Timothy\/2\/12\/over\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">G831<\/a> = <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>dominate<\/strong><\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">absolute master, kills<\/span> )<strong> the man, but to be in silence <\/strong>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G2271\/quietness\/0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">G2271<\/a> = quietness).<\/span> <span id=\"en-AKJV-29730\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>For Adam was first formed, then Eve. <\/span> <span id=\"en-AKJV-29731\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression<\/span><span id=\"en-AKJV-29732\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-15\">.<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/classic.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Timothy+2&amp;version=AKJV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1 Tim. 2:11-14<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Order in Church Meetings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-AKJV-28713\" class=\"text 1Cor-14-34\"><sup class=\"versenum\">34\u00a0<\/sup>Let your women (wives) &#8216;keep silence&#8217; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G4601\/peace\/0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">G4601<\/a>=hold peace) in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but <i>they <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">are commanded<\/span><\/i> &#8216;<span style=\"color: #000080;\">to be under obedience<\/span>&#8216; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/BibleVerse\/1Corinthians\/14\/34\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">G5293<\/a>=<strong>to subject<\/strong> one&#8217;s self, &#8220;<strong>a voluntary attitude<\/strong> of giving in, cooperating), as also saith the law. <\/span> <span id=\"en-AKJV-28714\" class=\"text 1Cor-14-35\"><sup class=\"versenum\">35\u00a0<\/sup>And if they will learn any thing, let them <strong>ask<\/strong> their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Cor%2014&amp;version=NKJV;AKJV;MEV;RVA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 Cor. 14<\/a>\u00a0 AKJV.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;<em>they<\/em> <em>are commanded <\/em>&#8216; is not in the original!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When we study the passage <strong>in context<\/strong> we find out this letter is written by the apostle Paul to Timothy who was sent by Paul to the church in Ephesus. As you may remember <strong>Ephesus<\/strong> was a wealthy city &amp; leading seaport at the time, were the Roman <strong>goddess Diana<\/strong> (Artemis for the Greeks) <strong>was worshiped<\/strong> (pls. see<a href=\"https:\/\/classic.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Acts%2019%3A%2023-41&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Acts 19:34<\/a>), &amp; her cult consisted of women priestesses, it was led &amp; <strong>dominated by women<\/strong>. Paul was giving Timothy advise regarding the problems in this particular church were many of their converts came out of that<strong> feminist cult of Diana<\/strong> or were influenced by it.<\/p>\n<p>But also (1 Cor.14) there was a proper order used in their church meetings &amp; wives asking questions should be done at home. In context &#8216;to speak at church&#8217; refers to interruptions, asking questions, etc. Isn&#8217;t talking about praying or prophesying.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Corinthians%2011%3A4-5&amp;version=AKJV,NKJV,MEV,YLT,OJB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 Cor. 4:5<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>1\/<\/strong><\/span> The word for authority used through out the New Testament more than a hundred times, is the Greek word <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/g1849\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">G1849<\/a> &#8216;<span style=\"color: #800000;\">exousia<\/span>&#8216;= <strong>authority<\/strong>. But the word Paul used in 1 Timothy 2:12 is the Greek word <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/g831\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">G831<\/a>=authente\u014d, to <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>dominate<\/strong><\/span>, which is used only once in the entire New Testament. This single word &#8216;authente\u014d&#8217; has been translated as the sentence &#8220;<em><strong>to usurp authority over<\/strong><\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">2\/<\/span><\/strong> The Greek word <strong>oude<\/strong> is translated as <span style=\"color: #800000;\">&#8216;nor&#8217;<\/span> and it appears as there are 2 prohibitions to women, 1\/ not to teach &amp; 2\/ not to usurp authority over man.<\/p>\n<p>Bible Scholar Philip B. Payne wrote a book, &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbpayne.com\/publications\/man-and-woman-one-in-christ\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Man and Woman, One in Christ<\/em><\/a>&#8216;, where he explains that his assumptions about the male authority over women were deeply challenged when he heard a scholar said that &#8220;no passage of Scripture <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">properly understood<\/span> and in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">its context<\/span> <strong>excludes women<\/strong> from any form of Christian ministry.&#8221; For this reason he decided to study the book of 1 Timothy for <strong>several months<\/strong> and his study led him to some shocking discoveries, such as how the English translations <span style=\"color: #800000;\">adds<\/span> <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>masculine<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbpayne.com\/does-one-woman-man-in-1-timothy-32-require-that-all-overseers-be-male\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pronouns<\/a><\/span> into the list of <strong>qualifications for overseers and deacons<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #800000;\">that don&#8217;t exist in the original<\/span>. After that he continued for several years the study of both books of 1 &amp; 2 Timothy, until he wrote that book.<\/p>\n<p>Philip Payne explains in regards the word <strong>&#8216;oude&#8217;,<\/strong> that every time it&#8217;s used (31 times) in the letters or epistles which with out a doubt were written by Paul, &#8216;oude (nor)&#8217; is <strong>always<\/strong> used to combine <span style=\"color: #800000;\">two ideas into <strong>one<\/strong><\/span> <span style=\"color: #800000;\">single idea<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">&amp; <strong>not two separate ideas<\/strong><\/span>. Examples: &#8216;<em>Paul, an apostle, not from men <strong>nor<\/strong> through men<\/em>&#8216; (Gal. 1:1); &#8216;<em>There is no one righteous, <strong>not<\/strong> (oude) even one<\/em>&#8216; (Rom. 3:10); &#8216;<em>Whom no man has seen and <strong>no<\/strong> (oude) man is able to see<\/em>&#8216; (1 Tim. 6:16), etc. Payne&#8217;s conclusion is that&#8217; there is only <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>one<\/strong> prohibition<\/span><\/span> for women in 1 Tim. 2:12, <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the combination of teaching<\/span> while dominating over a man&#8217;.<\/strong> This was exactly what women in the cult of Diana were used to do as feminist &amp; priestesses.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>3\/<\/strong><\/span> Also the construction of the text in the Greek for verse 12, suggests a <strong>temporary and contextual ban<\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>not<\/strong> a permanent and universal one<\/span>. Bible Scholar Ben Witherington explains the following, based on the tense and force of the Greek <strong>verb<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G2010\/suffer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">G1020<\/a>) translated <strong>\u2018permit\/<\/strong>suffer<strong>\u2019<\/strong>: \u201c<em>As Philip Payne has shown, <strong>there is not a single instance of the use of this verb in Greek literature<\/strong> where this form means \u201cI am permanently banning\u2026<strong>This is a verb<\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> which implies a ban for a specific period of time until the problem is remedied<\/span> or the proper conditions are met for women having learned enough to be able to teach. Paul could have said \u201cI will never permit women to teach\u2026\u201d <span style=\"color: #800000;\">but he did not,<\/span> and for a good reason<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>A single verse cannot be used as proof to establish a doctrine<\/strong>, there is a danger of ignoring other Bible verses which may seem to say something different or even contradict that specific verse, like occurs in this case.<\/p>\n<p>Bible scholars such as Ben Witherington III (<a href=\"http:\/\/benwitherington.blogspot.ca\/2006\/02\/literal-renderings-of-texts-of.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Literal Renderings of Texts of Contention \u2013 1 Tim. 2.8-15<\/a>), Cynthia Long Westfall (<a href=\"http:\/\/jgrchj.net\/volume10\/JGRChJ10-7_Westfall.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Meaning of \u03b1\u1f50\u03b8\u03b5\u03bd\u03c4\u03ad\u03c9 in 1 Timothy 2.12<\/a>),\u00a0 Craig S. Keener ( <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20190317193805\/http:\/\/enrichmentjournal.ag.org\/200102\/082_paul.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Was Paul For or Against Women in Ministry?<\/a>), &amp; others, all agree that Paul isn&#8217;t writing a\u00a0 universal treatise on women in the church. But that instead, he is giving <strong>particular instructions to the women in Ephesus<\/strong> in order to address some issues there.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>4\/<\/strong> <\/span>Some other examples about the translations:<\/p>\n<p><strong>In the Greek New Testament, Paul refers to himself as a \u201c<\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">diakonos<\/span><strong>\u201d<\/strong> (Colossians 1:23 &amp; 25). In the New King James Version of the Bible (NKJV) this word is translated <span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cminister\u201d.<\/span> Paul explains that his duties, as a minister, include <strong>\u201cteaching\u201d and \u201cpreaching\u201d<\/strong> (Col. 1:28). <strong>He also refers to Timothy as a \u201c<\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">diakonos<\/span><strong>\u201c<\/strong>, translated <span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cminister\u201d<\/span>, and associated with <strong>teaching<\/strong> or instruction.<strong> In Romans 16:1 the word \u201c<\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">diakonos<\/span><strong>\u201d is used again<\/strong>,<strong> this time in reference to a <\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">woman<\/span><strong>, Phoebe<\/strong>. But in this instance the NKJV does not translate the word as \u201c<span style=\"color: #800000;\">minister<\/span>\u201d.<strong> Instead it refers to Phoebe as a <\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cservant\u201d<\/span><span style=\"color: #800000;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In Romans 16:2, another Greek word is used to describe Phoebe\u2019s role in the church. She is referred to as a \u201c<span style=\"color: #800000;\">prostatis<\/span>.\u201d NKJV translates this word regarding Phoebe as <span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201chelper\u201d.<\/span><strong> When similar Greek words are used of men, however, they are translated as <\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cruling\u201d<\/span> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Timothy%205%3A17%2C%201%20Timothy%203%3A4&amp;version=NKJV;AKJV;MEV;RVA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 Tim. 5:17, 1 Tim.3:4<\/a>, NKJV). In Romans 12:8, the word is translated as <span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cleading\u201d<\/span> (NKJV). <a href=\"https:\/\/juniaproject.com\/phoebe-servant-or-minister\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lost in Translation, Phoebe: Servant or Minister?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We need to be careful not to take things to any of the two extremes. We understand that leadership in the house (<a href=\"https:\/\/classic.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Eph.5%3A15-33&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eph.5:23<\/a>) &amp; in the church should come mainly from men, it has to do with order &amp; responsibilities, but this should <strong>not exclude women<\/strong> to help, pray, teach or have ministries in the church. I think <strong>the most important thing we all<\/strong> (men &amp; women) should always remember, are these words of our Lord Jesus, so we can better understand that <span style=\"color: #800000;\">leadership<\/span> in the church <strong>is <span style=\"color: #800000;\">not<\/span> like leadership in the world<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c<span id=\"en-AKJV-23821\" class=\"text Matt-20-28\"><span id=\"en-MEV-23818\" class=\"text Matt-20-25\"> <\/span>But having called them, Jesus said, You know that <span style=\"color: #800000;\">the rulers <\/span>(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G758\/princes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">G758<\/a>=<strong>leader<\/strong>, prince) <span style=\"color: #800000;\">of the nations<\/span><strong> exercise lordship over them<\/strong>, and the <strong>great ones exercise authority over them<\/strong>.\u00a0 But<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> it will not be so among you<\/span>. But whoever desires to become <span style=\"color: #800000;\">great among you, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">let him be your <strong>servant<\/strong> <\/span><\/span>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/g1249\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">G1249<\/a>=diakonos=minister, master, attendant).\u00a0 And <strong>whoever desires to be first<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G4413\/chief\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">G4413<\/a>=chief) among you, <strong>let him be your slave <\/strong>(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G1401\/servant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">G1401<\/a>=<strong>servant, sense of subjection<\/strong> or subserviency).; Even as the <strong>Son of man did <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #800000;\">not<\/span> come <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">to be served<\/span><\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #800000;\">but <strong>to serve<\/strong>, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">to give His life<\/span><\/span> a ransom for many.\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/kjv\/Matthew%2020.25-28\">Matthew 20:25-28<\/a>, see also Mark <a href=\"https:\/\/classic.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark+10%3A35-44&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">10:35-44<\/a> &amp; <\/span><span id=\"en-MEV-25892\" class=\"text Luke-22-27\"><span class=\"woj\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.textusreceptusbibles.com\/JPGreen\/42\/22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Luke 22:24-30.<\/a><\/span> <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If Christians could only understand these words from Jesus, they wouldn&#8217;t be competing for leadership, on the contrary they will be competing to serve others better. Leadership in the church or in Christian households is only <strong>to protect<\/strong>, be better organized, it carries more responsibilities &amp; more sacrifices, but let us never forget the most important part of a Christian life is <span style=\"color: #800000;\">to imitate our Lord Jesus Christ<\/span>. <span id=\"en-AKJV-23821\" class=\"text Matt-20-28\"><span id=\"en-NKJV-29326\" class=\"text Eph-5-21\"><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Greek word &#8216;diakonos&#8221; <span id=\"en-AKJV-23821\" class=\"text Matt-20-28\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200223002150\/http:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com:80\/StrongsNo\/G1249\/minister\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">G1249<\/a><\/span> translated as <strong>minister<\/strong> really means SERVANT (who serves, deacon). The Greek word (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G4291\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">G4291<\/a>) &#8216;proist\u0113mi&#8217; translated as<strong> ruler<\/strong>, also means superintend, preside over, protector or guardian, &amp; &#8216;prostatis&#8217; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G4368\/succourer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">G4368<\/a>, referred to Phoebe in Rom.16:2 is a derivative of same word for ruler <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G4291\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">G4291<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; We can find some contradictions regarding women <strong>NOT<\/strong> teaching\/ prophesying, speaking publicly or ministering in the church:<span id=\"es-RVR1960-26968\" class=\"text Acts-2-17\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In the O.T. we find <a href=\"https:\/\/bible.knowing-jesus.com\/topics\/Deborah\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Deborah<\/a> a wise and courageous <strong>judge<\/strong> in Israel who also was a prophetess, &amp; <strong>men came to her<\/strong> for advise.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;<em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">The Lord gave the word<\/span>; great was the company of<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong> women<\/strong><\/span> who <strong>proclaimed<\/strong> it<\/span>:<\/em>&#8216; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm%2068%3A11&amp;version=AKJV,NKJV,MEV,YLT,OJB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Psalm 68:11<\/a> -Many bible translations omit the word<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong> female or women<\/strong><\/span>. When <strong>Aquila and <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Priscilla<\/span><\/strong> heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.<\/em>&#8216; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Acts%2018%3A24-26&amp;version=AKJV,NKJV,RVR1960,OJB,CJB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Acts 18:24-26<\/a> \u00a0-In the original Greek text, the name <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Priscilla<\/strong><\/span> comes before the name Aquila (her husband), indicating she was mainly the <strong>teacher<\/strong>, but this was change in many translations and Aquila appears first.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;. . <em>but every<strong> woman<\/strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\">who prays or prophesies<\/span><\/span> with her head uncovered dishonors her head, for that is the same as if she were shaved<\/em>&#8220;. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Corinthians%2011%3A4-5&amp;version=AKJV,NKJV,MEV,YLT,OJB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 Cor. 4:5<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Men or woman serving in the church, still need to meet the requirements for ministry or leadership, they have to be ordained by a mature &amp; well established church. We have today so many pastors &amp; leaders that <strong>don&#8217;t meet the bible requirements<\/strong>, some are looking for an easy income\/business using the gospel for profit.<\/p>\n<p>These days is easy to buy a pastor&#8217;s credential in the internet for around $100 usd &amp; anybody can pretend to be a pastor, so please remember, &#8216;<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>by their fruits you will know them<\/em><\/span>&#8216; are they serving or looking to be served?
