{"id":8360,"date":"2020-04-11T07:00:11","date_gmt":"2020-04-11T11:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cristolaverdad.com\/?p=8360"},"modified":"2026-04-03T15:41:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-03T19:41:15","slug":"resurrection-sunday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cristolaverdad.com\/?p=8360","title":{"rendered":"Resurrection Sunday!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Most Christians celebrated in their homes Palm Sunday to commemorate <strong>Jesus&#8217; triumphal entry in Jerusalem<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=%28Matt.+21%3A1-11%3B+Mk.+11%3A1-11%3B+Jn.+12%3A12-16%29&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\">Matt. 21:1-11; Mk. 11:1-11; Jn. 12:12-16<\/a>).\u00a0 History asserts that the earlier <strong>Palm Sunday<\/strong> was observed in the Greek Church in the 4th century, but there are no signs of the observance before that time. Many churches around the world use palm branches, processions, etc.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This year 2020 because of the Corona-virus pandemic many will celebrate also Resurrection Sunday in their homes. We just want to encourage you, <strong>not to be sad<\/strong> because this year you cannot celebrate according to your traditions, but instead<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> reflect on Jesus<\/span>, what He really did on those days, who He really is, etc. Please also pray for the people that are sick &amp; most importantly that many will receive salvation on the middle of these times of trouble.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>You maybe know by now\u00a0 that according to the Scriptures Jesus&#8217; death was not on <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">a Friday. <\/span><\/strong>We know for sure according with the Scriptures that Jesus rose from the death <strong>on a Sunday<\/strong>, but we also know by reading the Word of God that there was a <span class=\"text Mark-11-12\">prophecy: <\/span><span class=\"text Mark-11-12\"><em>&#8220;<span id=\"en-MEV-23530\" class=\"text Matt-12-40\"><span class=\"woj\">so will the Son of Man be <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>three<\/strong> days and <strong>three<\/strong> nights<\/span> in the heart of the earth.<\/span><\/span>&#8221; <\/em><\/span><span class=\"text Mark-11-12\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew%2012%3A40&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mat. 12:38-40<\/a>; 16:4, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Luke+11%3A29&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\">Luke 11:29<\/a>. But if He died a Friday, then the prophecy or the sign of Jonah would not be fulfilled, because Sunday would be the second day, <strong>not the third<\/strong> as the prophecy said. So let us find out why many think Jesus died on a Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"poetry top-1\">\n<p><span class=\"text Mark-11-12\" style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Thursday<\/span><\/strong>&#8211;<strong>Nisan 14=<\/strong> Passover &#8211;<\/span><strong><span class=\"text Mark-11-12\"> Jesus was crucified at the 3rd hour<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"text Mark-11-12\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblecharts.org\/newtestaament\/thejewishday.pdf\">Jewish time<\/a>, which<\/span><span class=\"text Mark-11-12\"> corresponds to<\/span><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><span class=\"text Mark-11-12\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> 9:00<\/span> am<\/span><\/strong><\/span><span class=\"text Mark-11-12\"> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark+15&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\">Mk.15:25<\/a>). It went dark from the 6th to 9th hour or from<strong> noon to 3pm<\/strong>, (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mat.27%3A45%3B+Mar.15%3A33%3B++Lk.23%3A44&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mat.27:45, Mk.15:33 &amp; Lk.23:44<\/a>).\u00a0 Jesus died a Thursday at <strong>3pm <\/strong>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark+15%3A34+-37&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mk.15:34 &amp; 37<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mat+27%3A46-50&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mat.27:46 &amp; 50<\/a>), <\/span><strong><span class=\"text Mark-11-12\">&amp; was buried close to sundown. <\/span><\/strong><span class=\"text Mark-11-12\">This year of 2020 Passover falls on a Thursday again (April 9), starting at sundown of the day before (Apr.8).<\/span><span class=\"text Mark-11-12\" style=\"color: #000080;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>-The next Bible verse, shows <strong>Jesus didn&#8217;t die on a Friday<\/strong>, the apostle John clarifies that after Jesus die it was a <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>high<\/strong><\/span> or ceremonial sabbath, <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> not<\/span> a regular weekly sabbath<\/strong>. (All the Jews &amp; people of that time knew that after Passover, the <strong>Feast of Unleavened Bread was a<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> high<\/span> Sabbath<\/strong>) &amp; this is the reason that many wrongly teach Jesus die on the cross on a<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> <strong>Friday<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span id=\"en-MEV-26856\" class=\"text John-19-30\">When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, <strong><span class=\"woj\">\u201cIt is finished.\u201d<\/span> And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit<\/strong>.<\/span>\u00a0 31 Since <strong>it was the Day of Preparation<\/strong>, to prevent bodies from remaining on the cross on<strong> the Sabbath day<\/strong> (for <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>that Sabbath<\/strong> day was a <strong>high<\/strong> day<\/span>), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. 32 Therefore the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with Him. 33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that <strong>He was dead already<\/strong>, they did not break His legs. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=john+19%3A31-33&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John 19:31-33<\/a>,\u00a0 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark+15%3A33-43&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark 15:33-43<\/a>).<span id=\"en-MEV-25992\" class=\"text Luke-23-56\"><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"text Mark-11-12\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Friday-<\/span><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Nisan 15<\/strong><\/span>=<span style=\"color: #000080;\"> Feast of <strong>Unleavened Bread<\/strong>,<\/span> (Exodus 12:15). The first day of this feast was a<strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> high<\/span> Sabbath<\/strong>, see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Lev.+23&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\">Lev. 23:7<\/a> (not a weekly sabbath Lev.23:<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Lev.+23&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">3<\/a>). Ceremonial day of rest, no work this day. This feast last 7 days &amp; <strong>the <span style=\"color: #800000;\">first<\/span> day and the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">last<\/span> day<\/strong> of Unleavened Bread are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>high sabbaths<\/strong> or <strong>ceremonial<\/strong> days of rest<\/span>.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text Mark-11-12\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Sabbath-<\/span><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Nisan 16<\/strong>= Weekly Sabbath<\/span>. They also rested on the <strong>weekly Sabbath<\/strong>. This is why the women prepared spices &amp; ointments after placing Jesus in the tomb. &#8211;<span id=\"en-MEV-25992\" class=\"text Luke-23-56\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Luke+23&amp;version=AKJV%3BNKJV%3BMEV%3BRVR1960\">Luke 23:52-56.<\/a><\/span> (since they couldn&#8217;t do work on any sabbath- &amp; for them the day starts at sundown) This was to anoint Him on Sunday early morning, but they found the stone for the door <span id=\"en-AKJV-24877\" class=\"text Mark-16-3\">of the sepulcher<\/span> rolled away.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text Mark-11-12\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Sunday<\/strong>&#8211;<\/span><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Nisan 17<\/strong>= <strong>Resurrection of the Lord.<\/strong> Feast of <strong>First-fruits<\/strong>.<\/span> (Lev.23:11)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00a0&#8220;<span class=\"verse interlinear font-helvetica\"><span class=\"verse-1\">In <strong>the end<\/strong> <strong>of the sabbath <\/strong>(<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20201127045435\/http:\/\/kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G4521\/sabbath\">sing. or <strong>plural<\/strong><\/a>) as it <span style=\"color: #800000;\">began to dawn<\/span> <strong>toward<\/strong> the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #800000;\">first day of the week<\/span>, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulcher.<\/span><\/span>&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/BibleVerse\/Matthew\/28\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mat.28:1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<span class=\"text Mark-16-1\"><strong>When the Sabbath<\/strong><strong> was past<\/strong>, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, so that they might go and <strong>anoint<\/strong> Him. <\/span> <span id=\"en-MEV-24876\" class=\"text Mark-16-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>Very <strong>early in the morning<\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #800000;\">on <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the first day of the week<\/span><\/span>, they came to the tomb at the rising of the sun. <\/span> <span id=\"en-MEV-24877\" class=\"text Mark-16-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>They said among themselves, \u201cWho will roll the stone away from the door of the tomb for us?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-MEV-24878\" class=\"text Mark-16-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>But when they looked, they saw that the stone had been rolled away. For it was very large. <\/span> <span id=\"en-MEV-24879\" class=\"text Mark-16-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white robe. And they were frightened.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-MEV-24880\" class=\"text Mark-16-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>He said to them, \u201cDo not be frightened. <strong>You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified<\/strong>.<strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> He is risen. He is not here.<\/span><\/strong> See the place where they laid Him<\/span>&#8220;. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mark+16&amp;version=NKJV;AKJV;MEV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark16:1-8<\/a>,- <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/BibleVerse\/Mark\/16\/2\"> Greek<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Thursday Jesus was buried close to sundown, it was the <strong>1st night<\/strong>, then Friday <span style=\"color: #800000;\">1st day<\/span> &amp; <strong>2nd night<\/strong>, Saturday <span style=\"color: #800000;\">2nd day<\/span> &amp; <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">3rd night<\/span>,<\/strong> &amp; then <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Sunday was<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> 3rd day<\/span><\/span>. &#8220;<em><span id=\"en-NKJV-28723\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-4\">and that He was buried, and that <strong>He rose again the <span style=\"color: #800000;\">third day<\/span><\/strong> according to the Scriptures&#8221; <\/span><\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+Corinthians+15%3A4&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span id=\"en-NKJV-28723\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-4\">1 Cor.15:4<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jesus rose from the dead <strong>on a Sunday<\/strong> not a Sabbath as some Hebrew Roots &amp; Church of God sects like to teach. To see more please check <a href=\"http:\/\/cristolaverdad.com\/?p=3886\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sabbath<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After the deaths of the Apostles, many men who where leaders in the Church wrote extensively and many of their writings have been preserved. While their writings are not considered inspired like the bible &amp; shouldn&#8217;t change doctrine, still they are very valuable in that they let us know the state of the Church in their day and what early Christians believed and practiced. (Instead of looking at writings of Jews who rejected Jesus, like in the Talmud, etc. the Hebrew Root teachers should better look early Christians writings). Here are just a few early Christian writing (when Roman Catholic Church didn&#8217;t exist yet) that proof that since the beginning of the church they worshiped on <strong>Sunday<\/strong> or what they called the <strong>&#8216;Lord&#8217;s day<\/strong>&#8216;:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>-90 AD DIDACHE: \u201cChristian Assembly on the Lord\u2019s Day: 1. But <strong>every Lord\u2019s day do ye gather yourselves together, and break bread<\/strong>, and give thanksgiving after having confessed your transgressions, that your sacrifice may be pure. 2. But let no one that is at variance with his fellow come together with you, until they be reconciled, that your sacrifice may not be profaned. 3. For this is that which was spoken by the Lord: In every place and time offer to me a pure sacrifice; for I am a great King, saith the Lord, and my name is wonderful among the nations.\u201d (Didache: The Teaching of the Twelve Apostles, Chapter XIV)<\/p>\n<p>-100 AD BARNABAS: Moreover God says to the Jews, &#8216;Your new moons and Sabbaths I cannot endure.&#8217; You see how he says, &#8216;The present Sabbaths are not acceptable to me, but <strong>the Sabbath which I have made<\/strong> in which, when I have rested [heaven: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Heb.%204&amp;version=NKJV;AKJV;MEV;RVR1960\">Heb 4]<\/a> from all things, I will make the beginning of the eighth day which is the beginning of another world.&#8217; Wherefore <strong>we Christians keep the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">eighth<\/span> day<\/strong> for joy, <strong>on which also Jesus arose from the dead<\/strong> and when he appeared ascended into heaven. (15:8f, The Epistle of Barnabas, 100 AD, Ante-Nicene Fathers , vol. 1, pg. 147)<\/p>\n<p>-IGNATIUS, Bishop of Antioch 107 AD, In the <em>Shorter Recension<\/em> of Ignatius&#8217; Epistle to the Magnesians, Chap.IX, he says: &#8220;If therefore, those who were brought up in the ancient order of things have come to the possession of a new hope, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">no longer observing the Sabbath<\/span>, <strong>but living in the observance of the Lord&#8217;s Day<\/strong>, on which<strong> also our life has sprung up again by Him<\/strong> and by His dead \u2014 whom some deny, by which mystery we have obtained faith, and therefore endure, that we may be found disciples of Jesus Christ, our only Master.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>-150AD JUSTIN: &#8221; The command of circumcision, again, bidding [them] always circumcise the children on the eighth day, was a type of the true circumcision, by which we are circumcised from deceit and iniquity<strong> through Him who rose from the dead on the first day after the Sabbath,<\/strong> [namely through] our Lord Jesus Christ. For <strong>the first day after the Sabbath<\/strong>, remaining the first of all the days,<strong> is called, however, the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">eighth<\/span><\/strong>, according to the number of all the days of the cycle, and [yet] remains the first.&#8221;. (Justin, Dialogue 41:4)<\/p>\n<p>-150AD JUSTIN: But if we do not admit this, we shall be liable to fall into foolish opinion, as if it were not the same God who existed in the times of Enoch and all the rest, <strong>who neither were circumcised after the flesh, nor observed Sabbaths, nor any other rites,<\/strong> seeing that Moses enjoined such observances&#8230; For <span style=\"color: #800000;\">if there was no need of circumcision before Abraham, or of the observance of Sabbaths, of feasts and sacrifices, before Moses; no more need is there of them now<\/span>, after that, according to the will of God, Jesus Christ the Son of God has been born without sin, of a virgin sprung from the stock of Abraham. (Dialogue With Trypho the Jew, 150-165 AD, Ante-Nicene Fathers , vol. 1, page 206)<\/p>\n<p>-150AD JUSTIN: &#8220;And on the day called <strong>Sunday<\/strong>, all who live in cities or in the country gather together to one place, and the memoirs of the apostles or the writings of the prophets are read, as long as time permits; then, when the reader has ceased, the president verbally instructs, and exhorts to the imitation of these good things. &#8230; <strong>But Sunday is the day on which we all hold our common assembly, because it is the first day on which God, having wrought a change in the darkness and matter, made the world; and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Jesus Christ our Saviour on the same day rose from the dead<\/span><\/strong>.&#8221; (First apology of Justin, Weekly Worship of the Christians, Ch 68)<\/p>\n<p>-150AD JUSTIN: Moreover, all those righteous men already mentioned [after mentioning Adam. Abel, Enoch, Lot, Noah, Melchizedek, and Abraham], though <strong>they kept no Sabbaths, were pleasing to God<\/strong>; and after them Abraham with all his descendants until Moses&#8230; <strong>And you [fleshly Jews] were commanded to keep Sabbaths, that you<\/strong> might retain the memorial of God. For His word makes this announcement, saying, &#8220;That you may know that I am God who redeemed you.&#8221; (Dialogue With Trypho the Jew, 150-165 AD, Ante-Nicene Fathers , vol. 1, page 204)<\/p>\n<p>-190AD CLEMENT OF ALEXANDRIA: He does the commandment according to the Gospel and<strong> keeps the Lord\u2019s day,<\/strong> whenever he puts away an evil mind . . . <strong>glorifying the Lord\u2019s resurrection<\/strong> in himself. (Ibid. Have a Blessed Resurrection Sunday!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Note:<\/p>\n<p>Beloved please be careful with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sotwe.com\/tweet\/1777063181908906349\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the movies<\/a> about Jesus&#8217; life or about His crucifixion that you watch, most of them are<strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> not<\/span> biblically accurate<\/strong> &amp; what happens is that we learn <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>wrong<\/strong> doctrines<\/span> &amp; <strong>memorize<\/strong> them with the help of powerful images that impregnate our minds.<\/p>\n<p>For example <span id=\":9i.co\" class=\"tL8wMe EMoHub\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8216;<em>The Passion of <u>the<\/u> Christ<\/em>&#8216; (with a sequel in the makings). Many of the scenes, including of the crucifixion, were taken from the visions of a <span style=\"color: #800000;\">mystic<\/span> nun who bore the stigmata, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Anne_Catherine_Emmerich\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i>Anne Catherine Emmerich<\/i><\/a>, who claimed to have seen visions of the passion, death and resurrection of &#8220;Christ&#8221;.\u00a0 M.Gibson (Who <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20240210060318\/https:\/\/www.jcpa.org\/phas\/phas-minerbi-s05.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">belongs<\/a> to the <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Opus Dei<\/span>, as well as his director&#8217;s assistant Jan &amp; Alberto Michelini-https:\/\/odan.org\/media_passion) stated that the<strong> <u>goal <\/u><u>&amp; intention<\/u><\/strong> for making the film: &#8220;<i>is<\/i><i> to shake modern audiences by brashly <strong>juxtaposing<\/strong> the \u201csacrifice <strong>of the cross<\/strong> with the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">sacrifice of the altar<\/span><\/i> (Eucharist) \u2013<b><i>which is the same thing<\/i><\/b>.\u201d\u00a0 &#8211; A sacrifice that is offered continually, this is the Catholic doctrine of Transubstantiation. But the sacrifice was done only once &amp; for all. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Heb.10%3A1-18&amp;version=NKJV;AKJV;MEV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Heb.10:11-18<\/a>.
