{"id":7178,"date":"2020-10-01T08:00:47","date_gmt":"2020-10-01T12:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cristolaverdad.com\/?p=7178"},"modified":"2025-12-03T09:50:34","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T14:50:34","slug":"mystic-teresa-of-avila-pt-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cristolaverdad.com\/?p=7178","title":{"rendered":"Mystic Teresa of Avila, Pt.2"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"seriesmeta\">This entry is part 6 of 9 in the series <a href=\"https:\/\/cristolaverdad.com\/?series=mysticism\" class=\"series-85\" title=\"Mysticism\">Mysticism<\/a><\/div><p>She was 62 (1577) when wrote in less than 6 months, her book called &#8216;<em>The Mansions<\/em>&#8216; or &#8216;<em>The Inner Castle<\/em>&#8216; in obedience to an assignment given by her <strong>spiritual leaders<\/strong>. The first paragraph is her complaining about that. Later she saidd got the vision of a <span style=\"color: #333399;\">crystal globe with 7 mansions<\/span> (&amp; even more mansions) with God in the center.<\/p>\n<p>The book is a guide to <strong>spiritual <span style=\"color: #000080;\">purification<\/span>,<\/strong> describing the soul as <strong>a castle<\/strong>\u00a0 with<strong> 7 mansions,<\/strong> on the path to a mystical union\/<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>marriage<\/strong> <\/span>with the divine &#8216;Majesty&#8217; in the <strong>center<\/strong> or <span style=\"color: #800000;\">innermost mansion<\/span>. She wrote that by <strong>emptying oneself of all attachments<\/strong> to creatures, God then comes and fills the soul with Himself, but this is Catholic doctrine about sin &amp; purgatory, CCC #<a href=\"http:\/\/www.scborromeo.org\/ccc\/para\/1472.htm\">1472<\/a>. At the end of the journey the soul would reach Spiritual <strong>Marriage<\/strong> in the 7th Mansion, the souls <strong>is free from sin <\/strong>&amp; have <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>union<\/strong> with God<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Catholic doctrine teaches<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?time_continue=114&amp;v=kzJ5HiX4uvk\"> nuns<\/a><\/strong> are the &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Consecrated_virgin\">Bride<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>s<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>of Christ&#8217; (<a href=\"https:\/\/proxy.duckduckgo.com\/iu\/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fivarfjeld.files.wordpress.com%2F2010%2F09%2Fnuns2.jpg&amp;f=1\">1<\/a>) many even wear a wedding ring, but the problem with all this <strong>Spiritual Marriage<\/strong> is that according with the Bible His &#8216;<strong>Church<\/strong>&#8216; <strong>is <span style=\"color: #800000;\">still<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> in the betrothal period<\/span> &amp; <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">not<\/span> married<\/strong> until the marriage supper of the Lamb<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> in heaven<\/span> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=revelation+19&amp;version=AKJV\">Rev. 19:7-10<\/a>), after Christ Himself comes for His (one) bride, which <strong>is<\/strong> His faithful <strong>Church<\/strong>, not separate individuals or many brides.<\/p>\n<p>To seek<strong> &#8216;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">divine union<\/span>&#8216;<\/strong> with god through meditation is a <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Plotinus#Henosis\">pagan<\/a> doctrine, &amp; even if someone imitating heathens want to apply this to Christianity to seek union\/<span style=\"color: #800000;\">marriage<\/span> with Christ now before the wedding off the Lamb, still would be a form of <strong>spiritual<\/strong> <strong>fornication<\/strong> not pleasing to God. For this reason (&amp; others) the <strong>&#8216;god\/majesty&#8217;<\/strong> encountered in the center of their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gotquestions.org\/prayer-labyrinth.html\">labyrinth<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/proxy.duckduckgo.com\/iu\/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fspectrummagazine.org%2Fsites%2Fdefault%2Ffiles%2Fimagecache%2Flarge_article_image%2Ffiles%2FInterior-Castle.jpg&amp;f=1\" class=\"broken_link\">1<\/a>) is <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">not<\/span><\/strong> the God of the Bible. Revelation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Revelation%2017&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\">17<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=revelation%2018&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\">18<\/a> mentions a counterfeit church (religious system) or bride. &#8216;<span style=\"color: #800000;\">Babylon<\/span> the Great&#8217; that corrupted the earth with her <strong>spiritual<\/strong> <strong>fornication<\/strong> &amp; killed the saints of God (Rev.17:6).\u00a0 This <strong>world wide religious system<\/strong> have its headquarters located in a city built on <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20250430203604\/https:\/\/theculturetrip.com\/europe\/italy\/articles\/what-are-the-seven-hills-of-rome\">7 hills<\/a> (Rev.17:9). <span id=\"en-NKJV-30998\" class=\"text Rev-18-4\">\u201c<em><strong>Come out of her<\/strong>, my people, <span style=\"color: #800000;\">lest you share in her sins<\/span>, and lest you receive of her plagues<\/em>.<\/span>&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/classic.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Rev.4%3A8&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rev.18: 4.<\/a> (Only Rome &amp; Jerusalem are the 2 cities built on 7 hills).<span id=\"en-AKJV-31020\" class=\"text Rev-19-2\"><span id=\"en-NKJV-30999\" class=\"text Rev-18-5\"><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s very important to note that in Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism) &amp; in the Talmud, there has been a constant theme <strong>referring to the &#8216;mystic&#8217; who journeys<\/strong> to the <span style=\"color: #800000;\">divine realm<\/span> of the <strong>7 Palaces of Paradise<\/strong> to the throne of God. These ecstatic journeys to the other-world\u00a0 appeared first in <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Babylonian<\/strong> <\/span>sources. Merkabah teachings (early Kabbalah) describe 7 divisions\/layers in heaven circled by fire, guarded by angels, &amp; the higher (7th) heaven contained <strong>seven palaces<\/strong> (<i>hekhalot<\/i>).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00a0 \u201cMerkava\/Hekhalot mysticism began after the end of the Second Temple period following the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 C.E., when the physical cult ceased to function. The idea of making a journey to the heavenly &#8220;hekhal&#8221; seems to be a kind of spiritualization of the pilgrimages to the earthly &#8220;hekhal&#8221; that were now no longer possible. . . .<\/p>\n<p>Hekhalot\u201d (<strong>palaces<\/strong>), derives from the divine abodes seen by the practitioner following a long period of ritual <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>purification<\/strong>,<\/span> <span style=\"color: #800000;\">self-mortification, and ecstatic prayer and meditation. <\/span>In their visions, these mystics would enter into the celestial realms and journey through the <strong>seven stages of mystical ascent<\/strong>: the Seven Heavens and <strong>seven throne rooms<\/strong>&#8220;. -religion.wikia.org.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And same as Teresa of Avila&#8217;s vision, in their innermost palace resides their <strong>divine<\/strong> King (an androgynous god of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=daniel%2011%3A38&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;MEV;RVR1960\">forces<\/a>) <strong>or an angelic<\/strong> image called <strong>Metatron<\/strong>, king of angels responsible for the seraphims, whom,\u00a0 they say<strong> helps<\/strong> them &amp; gives them knowledge. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bnei_Baruch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rabbi Michael Laitman<\/a> teaches that, \u201c<em>The Serpent is the <strong>Angel of Help<\/strong>. We should be grateful to the Serpent.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 197px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.todoesoterismo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/cubo-metatron.jpg\" width=\"187\" height=\"187\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kabbalah- Metatron&#8217;s cube<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Merkabah writings give great emphasis on <span style=\"color: #800000;\">prayer, meditation, mystical contemplation, magical names, magical talismans<\/span> and the development of ethical &amp; moral qualities, which are referred to as <strong>prerequisites<\/strong> for understanding the <strong>secrets<\/strong> of the <span style=\"color: #800000;\">seven palaces<\/span>. These Kabbalistic Jews also teach that the prayers of the &#8216;righteous &amp; sincere&#8217; person (unsaved ones) are carried from one <strong>palace or mansion<\/strong> to the next by a <strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">seraphim<\/span><\/strong>, the same angel encountered by Teresa.<\/p>\n<p>Many Kabbalists of today recognize the fact that what they read on <strong>Teresa of Avila work,<\/strong> is very much alike of what they learn in Kabbalah.\u00a0 One example:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">&#8216;As in<\/span> the Zoharic text<\/strong> quoted earlier, here we have an \u2018exalted King\u2019 (Lord of the Castle) who <strong>decides who will or will not enter his domain.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A probable reason for this similarity between <strong>Teresa\u2019s Interior Castle <\/strong><strong>and the earlier Zohar<\/strong> lies in the <strong>Jewish<\/strong> ancestry of <strong>Teresa<\/strong>. Whilst Teresa attempted to keep her past secret, she had been brought up in a <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Jewish converso family<\/span> whose ancestors had in earlier times felt it prudent to convert to Christianity. Additionally we need to note that <strong>both Teresa and her confidant, Juan de la Cruz,<\/strong> were living <strong>in Avila<\/strong>, the Spanish <strong>town<\/strong> where <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Moses de Leon<\/span><strong> had compiled the Zohar<\/strong> less than three hundred years earlier. The American academic Sujan Jane Burgeson has noted the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\">similarity<\/span> of Teresa\u2019s <strong>seven mansions<\/strong><\/span> not only to the ten sefirot of the<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> Zohar<\/span>, but also to the <strong>seven<\/strong> stages of meditation in <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Abraham Abulafia\u2019<\/span>s ectastic <strong>Kabbalah<\/strong>, and to the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>seven palaces<\/strong><\/span> of the earlier <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Merkabah<\/span> tradition.<\/p>\n<p>. . . As a modern historian has noted, \u201cthe world of <strong>Merkabah mysticism<\/strong> is one of the most dazzling of the mystical worlds. It is a realm of fantastic heavenly beings, of bizarre <span style=\"color: #800000;\">magical<\/span> names, and of <span style=\"color: #800000;\">occult<\/span> interactions between spirit and matter. In it, <strong>closed gates to celestial <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">palaces are opened<\/span> by<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> long, incomprehensible <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\">incantations<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, . .\u00a0\u00a0 &#8216; <em>-Comparative perspectives on the Zohar<\/em> by John Noyce, 2004.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20250723155050\/https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Moses-de-Leon\">Moses de Leon<\/a> (1250-1305) was a Jewish Kabbalist born in Spain who lived in <strong>Avila<\/strong>, modern scholars consider him the author of the Zohar (the main Kabbala book) or at least author part of it. Moses de Leon claimed that he worked from ancient manuscripts by Rabbi <a title=\"Shimon bar Yochai\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newworldencyclopedia.org\/entry\/Shimon_bar_Yochai\">Shimon bar Yochai<\/a> dating back to the 2nd century, but after Moses died his widow even she was offered good sums of money, denied those manuscripts ever existed. He also had writings in the traditions of Merkabah. He had a close relationship with <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20250728201138\/https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Joseph-Gikatilla\">Joseph Gikatilla<\/a>, a disciple of the famed Abraham Abulafia. Moses de Leon was greatly influenced by the\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Plotinus\">Neo-Platonism\u00a0<\/a> (By Greek philosopher of 3rd century Plotinus taught that the supreme being, called The One, could only be <strong>encountered<\/strong> (have union) in an <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">irrational<\/span> state of ecstasy<\/strong> (trance) achieved through certain progressive steps of mystical <strong>contemplation<\/strong>) &amp; was also influenced by his friend rabbi Joseph Gikatilla.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 255px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-YdTAlvSsCCE\/W7eYQAgv0fI\/AAAAAAAAGew\/_2ELebmuSUYO3Nd0eK7IirATmCq-aVzTgCKgBGAs\/s320\/Moses%2Bde%2BLeon\" width=\"245\" height=\"249\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kabbalistic globe with <span style=\"color: #800000;\">7 Palaces<\/span> from the<strong> Zohar book\u00a0 by Moses de Leon of Avila<\/strong>. -Was this the <span style=\"color: #333399;\">crystal globe<\/span> Teresa of Avila saw in her vision? Also here<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 177px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com\/images\/I\/51iF3iTxZBL._SY291_BO1,204,203,200_QL40_ML2_.jpg\" width=\"167\" height=\"237\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Occultist Aleister Crowley taught the paths to the <strong>7 palaces<\/strong>.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abraham Abulafia<\/strong> (considered a prophet &amp; messiah by the Kabbalists) was born in Zaragoza, Spain, in 1240. He studied Kabbalah in Barcelona.\u00a0 Abulafia\u2019s\u00a0 work also formed the <span style=\"color: #800000;\">major inspiration<\/span> in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Giovanni_Pico_della_Mirandola\">Giovanni Pico della Mirandola<\/a> work on Kabbala, that the <strong>Catholic mystic<\/strong> (a <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20250909013822\/https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/topic\/converso\">converso<\/a>) presented in a &#8216;Christian&#8217; manner. Abufalia wrote <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">7 stages<\/span><\/strong> of <strong>Meditation Techniques<\/strong> (including breathing exercises) for <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>mystical union<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 with god &amp;<strong> Prophetic<\/strong> Kabbalah. Pico after being excommunicated (excomulgated) was fully rehabilitated in 1493 by corrupt pope <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20250913023710\/https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Alexander-VI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alexander VI<\/a> [Rodrigo <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/House_of_Borgia\">Borgia<\/a> ], &amp; at the end of his life Pico became a <strong>mystic<\/strong> Dominican monk.<\/p>\n<p>Another example from a Spanish Kabbalist blogger:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\">The <strong>Zohar<\/strong> in particular <strong>contains images extremely similar<\/strong> to the <strong>concepts<\/strong> of<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> Saint Teresa<\/span> such as: &#8220;The Palaces of the Lord&#8221;, &#8220;The Interior Mansions&#8221;, &#8220;The <strong>Diamond<\/strong> Palace&#8221;, &#8220;The Silk Worm&#8221;, &#8220;The Mirror&#8221;, &#8221; The Nut &#8221; &amp; &#8220;The Dove &#8220;. Her way of using these images is similar to the <strong>Zohar style<\/strong> in which the mixture of<strong> metaphors and symbols<\/strong> that are related is considered an Art.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>. . . St. <span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\">Teresa speaks of a celestial palace as &#8220;of a <span style=\"color: #000080;\">crystal clear diamond<\/span>&#8220;. The palaces of which the Kabbalists speak are made of precious stones, usually <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">hard as diamond<\/span> or sapphires (from the Hebrew Sappir &#8220;radiation of the Divine Light&#8221;).<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><b>Kabbalah<\/b> is an <strong>occult mystical<\/strong> teaching aimed at achieving <b>union<\/b> <b>with<\/b> <b>god <\/b>(their <a href=\"http:\/\/cristolaverdad.com\/?p=6870\">god<\/a>), in order to obtain <span style=\"color: #800000;\">godhood<\/span> ( Same lie that the serpent offered in the garden). This isn&#8217;t real Judaism, they consider the stories of the Old Testament just myths, they use them but have their own twisted &amp; perverted interpretations. Kabbalah teaches Adonay the God of the Bible is the bad God &amp; Lucifer the good one, for that Kabbalah is a prerequisite for all Luciferian practitioners. They also teach that <strong>knowledge<\/strong> (gnosis) <strong>of the mysteries<\/strong> of the divine realm are essential for this <b>union with god. <\/b>Central to their practice is the &#8216;Tree of Life&#8217; which\u00a0 the mystic ascended symbolically trough <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">meditation<\/span>.\u00a0<\/strong> They have <a href=\"https:\/\/i.pinimg.com\/564x\/25\/e9\/97\/25e997ace61ef2ee3d33863bc23b0852.jpg\"><strong>7 lower paths or gates<\/strong><\/a>, (that also correspond to the chakras taught in yoga), &amp; 3\u00a0 higher paths or mystical\u00a0 steps to achieve unity with the divine. Kabbalah is divided in <strong>4 worlds or stages<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Teresa also wrote about <strong>4 stages<\/strong> of mystical prayer in her autobiography &#8216;<em>The Life&#8217;, <\/em>in c<span class=\"reference-text\">hapter 4 &amp; 23<\/span> she acknowledges her debt to two mystic authors: <strong>Francisco de Osuna,<\/strong> author of <em> The Third Spiritual Alphabet, <\/em>and <strong>Bernardino de Laredo<\/strong>, also a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.academia.edu\/759476\/A_Mystic_in_the_Age_of_the_Inquisition_Bernardino_de_Laredos_Converso_Environment_and_Christological_Spirituality\" class=\"broken_link\">converso<\/a><\/strong>, the author of <em>The Ascent of Mount Sion.<\/em> This treatise by Laredo describes the same <strong>prayer of union<\/strong> that Teresa used.<\/p>\n<p>Commentary by a Catholic (Kabbalistic) Friar:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Toledo was known as a centre of<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> Kabbalah<\/span> and the Church, encouraged by <strong>Popes<\/strong>, for over a hundred years <strong>had been advocating the study of Jewish Kabbalah as a way to explain more fully the Catholic mysteries<\/strong>. In fact some writers believe that it was <span style=\"color: #800000;\">the Catholic Church that helped spread the wisdom of the Kabbalah especially the Zohar<\/span>. <strong>Sixtus IV<\/strong> ordered the translation into Latin of seventy works of Kabbalah and <strong>Pope Paul IV<\/strong> encouraged and supported the first printing of the Zohar<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">.<\/span> <strong>Both<\/strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\">St John of the Cross and St Teresa of Avila<\/span><\/span> used the writings of <strong>Bernardino de Laredo<\/strong> (especially the Ascent of Mount Sion) who was a known <strong>converso<\/strong> (as well as a doctor and a Franciscan) <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">drawing on <strong>Jewish mystical traditions<\/strong><\/span>.[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.academia.edu\/759476\/A_Mystic_in_the_Age_of_the_Inquisition_Bernardino_de_Laredos_Converso_Environment_and_Christological_Spirituality\" class=\"broken_link\">6<\/a>]<a href=\"#_ftn6\" name=\"_ftnref6\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bernardino de Laredo\u2019s writings were able to be passed by the Inquisition <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>only when he rewrote them<\/strong> emphasizing <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\">Scriptural quotes<\/span> and Catholic sources<\/span>. <span style=\"color: #800000;\">St John of the Cross followed his example<\/span> by explaining his ideas with frequent<strong> scriptural<\/strong> references. Even then certain sections of his writings seem to have been removed. One who is familiar with <span style=\"color: #800000;\">the Jewish Kabbalah<\/span> and mystical books can\u2019t help but notice that <strong>St John of the Cross refers to the same Scriptural sources as the mystical writings of the Jewish rabbis and mystics.<\/strong> The<strong> Bahir<\/strong> seems to be one source, whether used directly or indirectly, for some of St John\u2019s teachings.[7]. . .<\/p>\n<p>-Brother Gilbert Bloomer, Catholic Theologian, member of the Association of Hebrew Catholics, &amp; founder of <span lang=\"EN-US\">Bnei Miriam Kollel, institute<\/span> to teach the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Jewish roots of the Catholic faith<\/span>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>St. John of the Cross also wrote about the journey of the soul to &#8216;<span style=\"color: #800000;\">union with god<\/span>&#8216; using steps of a <strong>ladder<\/strong>. The Bahir (brilliant or illumination) mentioned above is another book of Kabbalah teachings. Both <strong>Teresa of Avila &amp; John of the Cross<\/strong> were proclaimed <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Doctor_of_the_Church\">Doctors<\/a><strong> of the Church<\/strong>, this title is given by the <strong>Catholic<\/strong> Church to saints recognized as having made <strong>significant contribution to their <\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #800000;\">theology or doctrine<\/span>.
