It was attended by over 250-300 bishops. Also they established a structure of ecclesiastical hierarchy but did not single out the pope.\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0 Emergence of <strong>Eastern Orthodox<\/strong> Christianity &amp;<strong> Western (Roman)<\/strong> Christianity. &#8211; Constantine died (337 AD). &#8211; 380 AD. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Edict_of_Thessalonica\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Edict of Thessalonica<\/a>,\u00a0 (by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Theodosius-I\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Theodoseus I<\/a>) is when Nicene Christianity received normative status. -381 AD: The <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">First Council of Constantinople<\/span><strong> reaffirms &amp; amends the Nicene Creed<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Emperor <strong>Constantine<\/strong> acquired several important titles like &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pontifex_maximus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pontifex Maximus<\/a>&#8221;, &amp; presided over the Council of Nicaea as <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Bishop of Bishops<\/span> (term for pope a few years later). And like<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> Babylon<\/span>, now<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> Rome<\/span> as well, with the Pontifex Maximus religious office given to the emperor, they fused <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>religion <\/strong>with <strong>politics<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 (Exactly what is happening today in the US &amp; soon globally).<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to note that emperor Constantine was a pagan who worshiped the sun god or &#8220;Sol Invictus&#8221; (The unconquered sun). When battling his rival Maxentius for the throne he asked the night before the battle his sun god for a sign. Then some say had a dream, others say in the way to battle he had a vision &amp; saw an <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/T2Ma5sKqcjE?si=vWigOoPhNTA-y3f1&amp;t=572\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ankh<\/a> (symbol of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wikihow.com\/Occult-Symbols\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sun god<\/a>) or a<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chi_Rho\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Chi-Ro<\/a> in the sky, and the words &#8216;In Hoc Signo Vences&#8217; (In this sign conquer), he defeated his rival &amp; in gratitude converted to Christianity. But even after this Constantine never got baptized (until when dying) &amp; continued to feature pagan <a href=\"https:\/\/rg.ancients.info\/constantine\/Sol_other.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gods on coins<\/a>. (See also <a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/bp0.blogger.com\/_hCtXNDGAhxI\/SI6rOm1ulzI\/AAAAAAAABNs\/rquTqgqWbVM\/s400\/catholic%2Bchurch__occultic.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vatican coin<\/a> 1582 with Pope Gregory XIII &amp; the occultic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wikihow.com\/Occult-Symbols\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ouroboros<\/a>, -associated w\/the sun god- here using a winged dragon instead of the usual serpent).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/external-content.duckduckgo.com\/iu\/?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftse2.mm.bing.net%2Fth%2Fid%2FOIP.ayiSprq6Ugy_GteOatiFXgHaE8%3Fpid%3DApi&amp;f=1&amp;ipt=4d004690b4aaa535d66c50305226ee8003e9ea1e2ff8a4f1e6707cc925845690&amp;ipo=images\" width=\"339\" height=\"226\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0In Roman pagan religion there was a god called Neptune (Greek Poseidon) who according to their myths lived &amp; ruled the oceans, but the god who ruled over god Neptune was called the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pontifex_maximus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Pontifex Maximus<\/a>&#8221; or &#8220;Chief bridge builder&#8221;. The official worship of Sol ended with the outlawing of paganism by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Theodosius-I\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Theodoseus I<\/a> in 380 AD. Theodosius I or Theodosius the Great, was the last emperor to rule the entire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldhistory.org\/image\/21558\/map-of-the-roman-empire-under-theodosius-the-great\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Roman Empire<\/a> before it divided.<\/p>\n<p>During emperor Gratian&#8217;s reign (367-380) the Pontifex Maximus title for the emperor was changed to &#8216;pontifex inclytus&#8217; (&#8220;honourable pontiff&#8221;) an example followed by emperor Theodoseus I, who reigned from 379 to 395 AD &amp; others after him.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">=&gt;<\/span> But it was <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pope_Siricius\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Siricius<\/a><strong>\u00a0bishop of Rome<\/strong> (384-399) <span style=\"color: #800000;\">the first to call himself<\/span> &#8220;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Pontifex Maximus<\/span>&#8221; &amp; the new term<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> pope <\/span>(which derived from the Latin word <em>papa<\/em>, &amp; Greek <em>pappas<\/em> meaning \u201c<strong>father<\/strong>\u201d). In other words he was the <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">first pope<\/span> of Rome<\/strong><\/span>. After that all previous bishops of Rome were given the title of &#8216;pope&#8217; retrospectively to show continuous apostolic succession.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>But<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> Jesus taught<\/span> to His disciples:\u00a0 \u201cThey [Scribes and Pharisees] <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">do all their works<\/span><strong> to be seen by men<\/strong>. They make their Scripture boxes broad and lengthen the tassels on their prayer shawls. <span style=\"color: #800000;\">They love the places of honor<\/span> at feasts, and the <span style=\"color: #800000;\">prominent seats<\/span> in the synagogues, <span style=\"color: #800000;\">and greetings<\/span> in the marketplaces, <span style=\"color: #800000;\">and being called <\/span>\u2018Rabbi\u2019 <span style=\"color: #800000;\">by men<\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201c<strong>But do not be called<\/strong> \u2018Rabbi,\u2019 for <span style=\"color: #800000;\">you<\/span> have one Teacher, the <strong>Christ<\/strong>, and<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"> you are all brothers<\/span><\/strong><\/span>. 9 And <strong>call no man<\/strong> on earth your <span style=\"color: #800000;\">father<\/span>, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.&#8221;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew%2023%3A9&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Matt.23:5-9<\/a>.\u00a0 (Jesus isn&#8217;t talking about dads but about &#8216;religious&#8217; titles).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">5th century<\/span><\/strong> &#8211; Pope Celestine I (422-432) called the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Council of Ephesus<\/span> (431 AD). His council called Mary the <strong>mother of God<\/strong>. [Titles of perpetual virginity -Lateran Council of 649, immaculate conception 1854, Co-redemptrix (Pius X, 1904), etc.]. &#8211; The Council of Ephesus deals with Christological controversies, <strong>contributing to the schism<\/strong> between Eastern and Western Christianity.<br \/>\n&#8211; 451 AD: The <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Council of Chalcedon<\/span> addresses further Christological issues, <strong>deepening the division<\/strong> between the Eastern Orthodox and the Oriental Orthodox churches. &#8211; By 440 AD, Pope Leo I (Leo the Great) significantly expanded <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">papal authority<\/span> by emphasizing Petrine primacy, arguing that the pope was the direct successor of Peter and thus held <strong>universal jurisdiction<\/strong> over the Church. Still the pope didn&#8217;t ruled over all churches world wide <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">until<\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">606 AD<\/span> when pope Boniface III, takes title: &#8220;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>universal<\/strong><\/span> Bishop&#8221;.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The disciples knew well who was the <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Rock<\/span>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm%2018%3A31&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Psalm 18:31<\/a> states:\u00a0 <span id=\"en-MEV-14150\" class=\"text Ps-18-31\">For who is God except the <span class=\"small-caps\">Lord<\/span>?<\/span><span class=\"indent-1\"> <span class=\"text Ps-18-31\">Or<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> who is <strong>a rock<\/strong> besides our God?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I believe the Rock in Matthew 16 is Jesus. The question was about <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">His<\/span> identity<\/span>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew%2016%3A13-20&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">He said to them, <\/a>\u201cBut <span style=\"color: #800000;\">who do you say that <strong>I<\/strong> am<\/span>?\u201d God the Father had revealed the truth to Peter : <span id=\"en-MEV-23689\" class=\"text Matt-16-16\">Simon Peter replied, \u201c<strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">You are<\/span> the Christ, the Son of the living God&#8217;<\/strong><\/span>. He then says, \u201cYou are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew%2016%3A18&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matthew 16:18<\/a>). The word for \u201cPeter,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/BibleVerse\/Matthew\/16\/18\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Petros<\/a>, is a masculine noun that means \u201ca detached stone, a stone that might be thrown or easily moved\u201d (Zodhiates, S., The Complete Word Study Dictionary: New Testament, AMG Publishers, 1992, p. 1,154). The word for \u201c<span style=\"color: #800000;\">rock<\/span>\u201d mentioned next <strong>is a different Greek word<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G4073\/rock\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">G4073: petra<\/a>, a feminine noun that means \u201c<strong>a mass<\/strong> of rock\u201d or \u201ca cliff\u201d and therefore something foundational ( see also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew%207%3A24%E2%80%9325&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matthew 7:24\u201325<\/a> uses the same word <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/BibleVerse\/Matthew\/7\/25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">G4073: petra<\/a>). The difference in the two terms may suggest that Jesus was contrasting Peter with Himself. Something like \u201cYou are the small rock, but on this foundational rock (His identity) I will build my church.\u201d This view finds support in other passages <span style=\"color: #800000;\">that present Christ,<\/span> not Peter, as the foundation of the church (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Corinthians%203%3A11&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 Corinthians 3:11<\/a>) and the Spiritual Rock (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Corinthians%2010%3A4&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 Corinthians 10:4<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Christ Himself is called the \u201cChief Cornerstone\u201d &amp; &#8216;Living Stone&#8217; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Peter%202%3A1%E2%80%937&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 Peter 2:1\u20137<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew%2021%3A42&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matthew 21:42<\/a>). The <strong>chief cornerstone<\/strong> of any building was that upon which a building is anchored. <strong>Believers are the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">stones<\/span> that make up the church<\/strong>. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20peter%202%3A1-5&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 Peter 2:5<\/a>). They are built upon <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the foundation<\/span> of the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>apostles<\/strong> and <strong>prophets<\/strong><\/span> (Yes, Peter has part on a foundational roll, but it isn&#8217;t just Peter) and ALL are anchored to the Chief Cornerstone, our Lord Jesus (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Ephesians%202%3A20&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ephesians 2:20<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Apostle Peter wrote : &#8221; For also it is contained in the Scripture,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cLook! I lay in Zion a <span style=\"color: #800000;\">chief cornerstone<\/span>, elect, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">precious<\/span>,<br \/>\nand <span style=\"color: #800000;\">he who <strong>believes<\/strong> in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Him<\/span><\/span> shall never be put to shame.\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20peter%202%3A6&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 Peter 2:6<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Even if Peter was a rock upon which Jesus promised to build His church, it does not give the Roman Catholic Church any authority.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Then, according to records Catholicism is a branch of Christianity that emerged over time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are not trying to put down our precious Catholics people, we appreciate you &amp; pray for you. We know some of you are already save &amp; many others the Lord is calling unto Him &amp; working in your hearts. Our Lord Jesus loves you! We don&#8217;t agree with many teachings of Catholicism because they depart from the teachings of the Scriptures, but also we believe they dangerously distract you from having a closer relationship with our precious Lord Jesus, who paid on the cross for our sins. Difficult times are coming &amp; the enemy has plans to shake our faith as believers in Christ, it will happen very soon, and we can only find safety<strong> in Him<\/strong>. I&#8217;m not pointing you to my church or any denomination, <strong>I&#8217;m pointing you to <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Him<\/span> our Savior<\/strong>. Come to Jesus, please don&#8217;t delay! Invite Him into your heart &amp; to be part of your daily life.
