The foundation of our Christian faith is Jesus Christ<\/strong> the only begotten son of God. He is the author & finisher of our faith :<\/p>\n

looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith<\/strong>; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

<\/p>\n

There are foundational doctrines in the Word of God that one must believe in as a Christian. You will find them in most Statements of Faith of Christian churches or Christian web pages.\u00a0 The Bible states:<\/p>\n

” Whosoever<\/em><\/strong> transgresseth (G3845 = depart<\/strong>, leave, be turned from), and abideth <\/em>(G3306<\/a> = remain<\/strong>, stay, continue) not<\/strong> in the doctrine of Christ<\/strong>,<\/span> hath not God.<\/strong> <\/em>He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine<\/strong>, receive him not into your<\/i> house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.”\u00a0 2 John 1:9-11 .<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The ‘Doctrine of Christ’<\/strong> -The word doctrine<\/a> means teachings, instructions. For this reason many consider the foundational doctrines to be all the teachings & instructions of Jesus, found in the New Testament. The book of Hebrews points out six foundational teachings (called doctrine of Christ) that every Christian should know & are considered milk. See\u00a0 Hebrews 6:1-2<\/a><\/strong>. However some Christians only consider the ‘Doctrine of Christ’ to be the teachings about the person, nature & works of Christ (Christology<\/a>), which includes the Gospel of Salvation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

We agree with many Christians that the\u00a0\u00a0foundational doctrines include but are not necessarily limited to:<\/p>\n

1\/<\/strong> <\/span>The Scriptures<\/strong>– Inspired by the Holy Spirit, inerrant (as originally given<\/i>) and sufficient for all Christian life. 2 Timothy 3:16-17<\/a>; 2 Pet 1:20-21.\u00a0<\/a> The Bible is God’s revelation in written form & it is the final authority<\/strong> for every Christian in all matters of faith and morals. The Apostle Peter said \u201cthe word of the Lord endures forever<\/strong>\u201d (1 Pet. 1:23-25<\/a>) and therefore its\u00a0authority cannot be broken. This is foundational to other essential doctrines.<\/p>\n

– Many religions deny the sufficiency of Scripture or have their own translations or add\u00a0as equal to Scriptures their own interpretations. e,g their church traditions or\u00a0Catechisms (Catholicism – Council of Trent, Westminster Catechism, etc), their founders’ new revelations (New Apostolic Reformation, Emergents, Word of Faith Movements, Hebrew Roots, etc.) , or their founders’ doctrinal interpretations (Mormons, Jehovah’s Witness, Scientology, etc.)<\/p>\n

2\/<\/strong> <\/span>Godhead-<\/strong> Through the Scriptures we learn there is one God (Deut. 6:4<\/a>, Isaiah 45:22<\/a>), Almighty, creator of all things (Gen.1:1<\/a>).\u00a0God cannot lie (Heb. 6:18<\/a>; Titus 1:2<\/a>). He is perfect, Infinite, and Eternal.\u00a0He exists in three separate Persons : The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit<\/strong>, each one possessing all<\/strong> the attributes of Deity and personality. (Matthew 3:16-17<\/a> , Matthew 28:19-20<\/a>; Genesis 11:7<\/a>; Colossians 2:9<\/a> ; Acts 5:3-4<\/a>; 2 Cor. 13:14<\/a>). More bible verses here.<\/a><\/p>\n

–\u00a0 Some\u00a0 non-trinitarians<\/a> believe in God is one person that manifest himself in 3 ways or with 3 faces. Groups that reject the doctrine of the Trinity are: Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Unitarians, Oneness Pentecostals, most Hebrew Roots, etc.<\/p>\n

– Some others change God’s character <\/strong>or take one of His attributes to the extreme disregarding the others:<\/p>\n

“The first man fell<\/strong> because the Lord deemed it meet that he should<\/em>” (John Calvin<\/strong>,\u00a0 institutes of Christian Religion, Book 3, Chp.23, paragraph 8).\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cGod wills all things that come to pass…God desired <\/strong>for man to fall into sin<\/span>…God created sin<\/strong><\/em>.\u201d (Calvinist R.C. Sproul, Jr.<\/strong>, Almighty Over All<\/em> , p. 54).<\/p>\n

“God is able without blameworthy ‘tempting’ to see to it that a person does what God ordains<\/strong> for him to do<\/em> even if it involves evil<\/strong><\/em>” (Neo-Calvinist John Piper,<\/strong> ‘Spectacular sins: And their global purpose’<\/em>, Wheaton:Crossway, 2008, p. 24).<\/p>\n

Please check:\u00a0 Is God the author of sin?<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

3\/<\/span> The Holy Spirit<\/strong> is the third Person of the Trinity not a force, whose ministry is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ.\u00a0 He accomplishes this ministry by convicting individuals of their sin, by regenerating, sealing, and indwelling the believer at the moment of conversion (Eph. 1:13<\/a>), & by empowering the Christian for godly living and service.\u00a0 (John 16:7-15<\/a>; Tit. 3:5<\/a>; 1 Cor. 6:19<\/a>; 1 Cor. 12:13<\/a>).<\/p>\n

– Jehovah’s Witnesses, & some Hebrew Roots among others, believe the Holy Spirit is not a person but God’s force or power.<\/p>\n

4\/<\/strong><\/span> The Son<\/strong> became incarnate (flesh) (John 1:1-3,14<\/a>; 1st Timothy 3:16<\/a>; Colossians 2:9<\/a>). Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God (John 3:16<\/a>). He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary (Matthew 1:18-25<\/a>).<\/p>\n

– Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses & others believe Jesus is not God but that he was created by God. Mormons also teach Jesus is the brother of Satan.<\/p>\n

5\/<\/span> Christ’s Deity<\/strong>, 100% God & 100% man. Jesus is Almighty God (John 1:1-3,14<\/a>; John 10:33<\/a>; Heb.1:8<\/a>; 1st Timothy 3:16<\/a>; Revelation 1:8<\/a>).<\/p>\n

– Gnostics, Masons, Mormons, Jehovah Witness, some in the Word of Faith movement & the New Apostolic Reformation reject this doctrine (e.g. Bill Johnson<\/a>) deny Jesus was fully God & fully man when He came to earth.<\/p>\n

6\/<\/span> Jesus’ sinless life<\/strong> and perfection (2 Corinthians 5:21<\/a>; 1st Peter 2:21-22<\/a>; Hebrews 4:15<\/a>) even when carrying our sins to the cross. NAR & Word of Faith’s teachers say Jesus became sin on the cross, took the nature of Satan & He needed to be born again<\/a>. \u201cHear this! He who is the nature of God became the nature of Satan<\/strong> when he became sin!<\/em>\u201d (Benny Hinn, Trinity Broadcasting Network, December 1, 1990). \u201cThe righteousness of God was made to be sin. <\/em>He accepted the sin nature of Satan in His own spirit<\/em>.\u201d<\/strong> (Kenneth Copeland, \u201cWhat Happened from the Cross to the Throne<\/em>,\u201d 1990, audiotape #02-0017, side 2). This teaching is really from E.W Kenyon<\/a>, (A Gnostic preacher who studied metaphysical & mind science, and mixed it with Christianity who influenced these Movements<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n

7\/<\/strong> <\/span>Christ atonement<\/strong>, the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21<\/a>) who died for our sins (1st Peter 1:18-19<\/a>; Hebrews 9:12,22-24<\/a>), according to the Scriptures available to all<\/strong> who receives Him,<\/strong> not a few elected ones. Jesus is the Savior for all mankind (Isaiah 53:1-12, Isaiah 62:11, Matthew 1:21, John 3:16 & 4:42, Romans 5:6-11, 1 Timothy 2:5-10):<\/p>\n

\u201cFor therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust<\/span> in the living God, who is the Saviour of ALL<\/span><\/strong> men<\/span>, specially of those that believe<\/strong><\/span>.<\/strong>\u201d 1st Timothy 4:10<\/a><\/p>\n

“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away<\/strong> the sin of the world<\/strong>“<\/strong> .John 1:29<\/a><\/p>\n

-The five points<\/a> of Calvinism (Reformation) makes changes to the Gospel of Salvation. They say this system of theology was reaffirmed by the Synod of Dort<\/a><\/strong> in 1619 as the doctrine of salvation<\/strong>. They reject the sacrifice of Christ is for all men<\/span> (e.g. John Piper<\/a>, John Mac Arthur<\/a>, R.C Sproul<\/a>, David Platt, etc).<\/p>\n

Calvinists teach unconditional (selective) election<\/strong>– God before the world preselected certain individuals unto salvation. They also teach limited atonement<\/strong>– Christ\u2019s redeeming work<\/strong> was intended to save only the elect<\/strong>.\u00a0 – If\u00a0Calvinism were correct, then it would mean God created the majority of the world\u2019s inhabitants (past, present, & future ) simply to\u00a0 send them to hell\u00a0 without having a chance to be saved. (Not Good News but ‘Bad News’ to the majority of humanity). Even worse, having Almighty God the power to change that outcome, but not wishing to do so?… Sorry, but that\u2019s not the God I serve.<\/p>\n

– “For I, the Lord<\/span>, love justice<\/strong><\/em>;<\/span>” Isaiah 61:8<\/a>;<\/p>\n

–\u00a0The Lord<\/span> is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works<\/span>.<\/span> Psalms 145:17<\/a><\/p>\n

– ‘For there is no<\/strong> respect of persons (favoritism) with God<\/strong><\/em>.’<\/strong> Romans 2:11, Acts 10:34<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0– ‘I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose<\/u> <\/span>life<\/b>, .<\/i>.<\/span>.’ Deut. 30:19<\/a>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

– \u201cO Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you<\/strong>, how often I would have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would not!<\/span><\/span> Matt. 23:37<\/a><\/p>\n

\u00a0– <\/sup>Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God<\/span>, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked<\/strong>; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel? Ezekiel 33:11<\/a>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

– In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not<\/strong>, lest the light of the <\/strong>glorious gospel of Christ,<\/span> who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 2 cor.4:4<\/a>.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0 Notice it is the devil that blinds the minds of the unbelievers, not God.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
