Prayer for Safety from Enemies<\/strong>
\nTo the Chief Musician. Set to \u201cDo Not Destroy.\u201d A Michtam of David when he fled from Saul into the cave.<\/p>\n

1<\/p>\n

Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me!
\nFor my soul trusts in You<\/span>;
\nAnd in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge<\/strong><\/span>,<\/strong>
\nUntil these calamities have passed by.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nI will cry out to God Most High,<\/strong><\/span>
\nTo God<\/strong> who performs all things for me<\/strong>.

\nHe shall send from heaven and save me;<\/strong>
\nHe reproaches the one who would swallow me up<\/span>. Selah
\nGod shall send forth His mercy and His truth.<\/p>\n

\nI lie among the sons of men

\nWhose teeth are spears and arrows,

\nMy soul is bowed down;
\nThey have dug a pit before me;

David is the author of Psalm 57, he wrote it when fleeing from Saul & hiding in a cave, and most probably refers to the time when David escaped to the cave of Adullam (1 Samuel 22:1-2<\/a>).<\/p>\n

David faced real danger, yet he trusted in God\u2019s protection. In this Psalm David David expresses his trust in God\u2019s protection and his determination to praise the Lord, even in the midst of his trials. Instead of being consumed by fear, he sought refuge in God\u2019s presence<\/span>.<\/p>\n

David doesn\u2019t turn to earthly powers but instead cries out to God for mercy and refuge. This act of complete surrender to God\u2019s protection serves as a timeless lesson for all believers. It emphasizes the importance of seeking God first in times of trouble<\/strong> and finding solace in His unfailing care and protection.<\/p>\n
