The writer of this letter was James a servant of God &amp; half brother of Jesus. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mat.13%3A55%2C%20Gal.%201%3A19&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mat.13:55, Gal. 1:19<\/a>). He was not a believer until after the resurrection of Jesus. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John%207%3A3-5%2C%20Acts%201%3A14%2C%201%20Cor.%2015%3A7&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jn.7:2-3, Acts 1:14, 1 Cor. 15:7<\/a>, Acts 12:17). More <a href=\"http:\/\/cristolaverdad.com\/?p=11395\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<br \/>\nb) Unbridled tongue useless religion<br \/>\nc) Pure religion= 1) Visit orphans &amp; widows, &amp; 2) keep unspotted from the world.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">James, Chapter 1<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>1 <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">James<\/span>, a bondservant <strong>of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ<\/strong>,<\/p>\n<p>To the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad: Greetings.<\/p>\n<p>2 <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">My brethren<\/span>,<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> count it all joy<\/span> when you fall<strong> into <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">various<\/span> trials<\/strong>, 3 knowing that <span style=\"color: #800000;\">the testing of your <strong>faith<\/strong><\/span> <strong>produces patience.<\/strong> 4 But let patience have its perfect work, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">that you may be perfect and complete<\/span>, lacking nothing. 5 <strong>If any of you lacks <span style=\"color: #800000;\">wisdom<\/span><\/strong>,<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> let him ask of God,<\/span> who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him <strong>ask in <span style=\"color: #800000;\">faith<\/span>, with no doubting<\/strong>, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/manna.amazingfacts.org\/amazingfacts\/website\/amazingfacts\/images\/scripture-pictures\/james-1-2-3-186766031.jpg\" width=\"466\" height=\"325\" \/><\/p>\n<p>James died defending the faith, according to historian Josephus James was martyred in AD 62. So he knew very well about trials &amp; suffering. But he shows us a different perspective on how to respond to trials. Instead of getting sad, discouraged &amp; even sometimes doubting God, we who are in the faith, can count it all joy because now we know that these trials are testing our faith &amp; producing in us endurance (patience) that leads to <strong>maturity<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G5046\/perfect\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">G5046<\/a>= perfect).<\/p>\n<p>Vs.5 When we don&#8217;t understand something, let us approach God in prayer &amp; ask Him for wisdom in any situation. He will give it to us <strong>abundantly<\/strong> &amp; with out reproach.<\/p>\n<p>James doesn&#8217;t just tell us we need to have faith but he shows us what real faith looks like. A person that lacks faith &amp; doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind, this brought to mind Eph.4:14\u00a0 &#8216;<em><span id=\"en-MEV-29287\" class=\"text Eph-4-14\">so we may<strong> no longer be children, tossed here and there by waves<\/strong> and carried about <strong>with every wind of doctrine<\/strong> by the trickery of men<\/span><\/em>&#8216;.<\/p>\n<p>God allows difficult times to refine our character, making us more like Christ. See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Romans%205%3A%203-4&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rom.5:3-4<\/a>\u00a0 &#8220;. . .<em>tribulation produces perseverance (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G5281\/patience\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">G5281<\/a>=patience<em>); 4 and perseverance, <strong>character<\/strong>; and character, hope&#8217;<\/em>. See also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Peter%201%3A6-7&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 Peter 1:6-7<\/a>\u00a0 &#8220;. .<em> you have had to suffer <strong>various trials<\/strong>, 7 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">in order that<\/span> the <strong>genuineness<\/strong> of your <strong>faith<\/strong>, which is more precious than gold that perishes, though it is<strong> tried by fire<\/strong>, may be found to <strong>result in praise<\/strong>, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.<\/em>&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>9 Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation, 10 but the rich in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away. 11 For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits.<\/p>\n<p>12 Blessed is the man who <strong>endures<\/strong> temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the <strong>crown of life<\/strong> which the <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Lord has promised<\/span> to those who<strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> love<\/span> Him<\/strong>. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, \u201cI am tempted by God\u201d; for <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone<\/span>. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by <strong>his own<\/strong> desires (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G1939\/lust\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">G1939<\/a>=<strong>lust<\/strong>) and enticed. 15 Then, when <strong>desire has conceived<\/strong>, it gives<strong> birth to sin<\/strong>; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth <strong>death<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>16 Do not be deceived, my <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">beloved brethren<\/span>. 17 <strong>Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights<\/strong>, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. 18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Let us learn to be humble &amp; content with what we have.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Timothy%206%3A17&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 Timothy 6:17<\/a> &#8220;<span id=\"en-AKJV-29806\" class=\"text 1Tim-6-17\"><em>Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy<\/em>;&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Vs.12 -The blessing comes after we have stood the test. Our<strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> love<\/span> for God<\/strong> is the motive for resisting temptation &amp; when we endure, we will receive the crown of life. Even God allows trials &amp; temptations, they don&#8217;t come from Him, only every good &amp; perfect gift comes from Him. We should avoid blaming others for our sins, a person commits sin because he\/she chooses to sin, &amp; when they don&#8217;t endure temptation &amp; sin grows, it brings forth death. We see <strong>death<\/strong> (1:15) stands in contrast to the crown of<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> life<\/span> (1:12). Remember James is speaking to believers, &amp; death means separation from God.<\/p>\n<p>-To overcome temptation is important to recognize we are the only ones to blame, that temptation comes from our own sinful desires (lust), &amp; that there is a <strong>progression<\/strong> that we need to be aware of so we can be prepare, pray &amp; <strong>surrender to the Spirit<\/strong> of God instead the flesh.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-MEV-30282\" class=\"text Jas-1-15\">1\/\u00a0 Sin &amp; temptations starts in <span style=\"color: #800000;\">the heart<\/span> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew%2015%3A19&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matt.15:19<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Rom.1%3A24&amp;version=NKJV;AKJV;MEV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rom.1:24<\/a>), with a thought that it&#8217;s allowed in the mind, it promises pleasure or profit, and if <strong>instead of resisting &amp; rejecting the thought<\/strong> we receive it, and cherished in the mind, then lust <strong>conceives<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-MEV-30282\" class=\"text Jas-1-15\">2\/\u00a0 Then it pulls us; is <strong>birthed<\/strong> into <span style=\"color: #800000;\">action, <\/span>brings forth <strong>sin<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-MEV-30282\" class=\"text Jas-1-15\">3\/ When sin is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G658\/finished\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">finished,<\/a> practiced, grown, it brings forth <span style=\"color: #800000;\">death<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If we take that bait &amp; don&#8217;t repent and get back on the path of righteousness <strong>before<\/strong> we consent to it in our mind, or before it pulls us into <strong>sin<\/strong>, then we\u2019re on the course that leads to death, because we are surrendering to the flesh.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Paul wrote: &#8216;<em>for those who live according to the flesh <strong>set their minds on the things of the flesh<\/strong> but those who live according to the spirit set their minds on the things of the spirit. . . 13 For <strong>if you live according to the flesh <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you will die<\/span><\/strong>; <\/em><span id=\"en-NKJV-28130\" class=\"text Rom-8-13\"><em>but if <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">by the Spirit<\/span><\/strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you<\/span> put to <strong>death the deeds of the body<\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #800000;\">you will live<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> <em>14<\/em> <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God<\/em>.<\/span>&#8216; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Romans%208&amp;version=NKJV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Romans 8:5-14<\/a>. The Holy Spirit will empower us to overcome, we are not alone, but we need to <strong>surrender<\/strong> to His lead.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/external-content.duckduckgo.com\/iu\/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.pinimg.com%2Foriginals%2Fe1%2F47%2F70%2Fe14770df89a521520919c58624be4e7b.jpg&amp;f=1&amp;nofb=1&amp;ipt=24d65be5f2b53a82f089388526a214e0669fbf17b3663333fbeac5dff133a65c&amp;ipo=images\" width=\"229\" height=\"229\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Flee<\/strong><\/span> also youthful<strong> lusts<\/strong>; but <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>pursue<\/strong><\/span> righteousness, faith, love, peace<\/span> with those who call on the Lord out of a <span style=\"color: #800000;\">pure heart<\/span><\/em>.&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2%20Timothy%202%3A22&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2 Tim.2:22<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<span id=\"en-KJV-30345\" class=\"text Jas-4-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Submit<\/strong><\/span> yourselves therefore to God<\/span>.<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Resist<\/span> the devil<\/strong>, and he will flee from you<\/em>.<\/span>&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=James%204%3A7-10&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">James 4:7-10<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>19 So then, my <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">beloved brethren<\/span>, <strong>let every man be swift <span style=\"color: #800000;\">to hear<\/span>, slow <span style=\"color: #800000;\">to speak<\/span>, slow <span style=\"color: #800000;\">to wrath<\/span><\/strong>; 20 for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.<\/p>\n<p>21 Therefore<strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> lay aside<\/span> all filthiness<\/strong> and overflow of <strong>wickedness<\/strong>, and<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> <strong>receive<\/strong><\/span> <span style=\"color: #800000;\">with meekness the implanted word<\/span>, which is able to <strong>save your souls<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>22 But <strong>be<\/strong> <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">doers<\/span> of the word<\/strong>, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect <strong>law of liberty<\/strong> and continues in it, and<strong> is not a forgetful hearer but a <span style=\"color: #800000;\">doer<\/span> of the work<\/strong>, this one will <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>be blessed<\/strong><\/span> in what he does.<\/p>\n<p>26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not <strong>bridle his tongue<\/strong> but deceives his own heart, <strong>this one\u2019s religion is useless<\/strong>. 27 Pure and <strong>undefiled religion<\/strong> before God and the Father is this: to <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">visit<\/span> orphans and widows in their trouble, and to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">keep oneself unspotted from the world<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Vs.19-21 James give a good advice that will help us overcome:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em><span class=\"text Jas-1-19\">So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be <span style=\"color: #800000;\">swift<\/span><strong> to hear,<\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> slow <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>to speak<\/strong><\/span><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #800000;\">slow <strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">to wrath<\/span><\/strong><\/span>; <\/span> <\/em><span id=\"en-NKJV-30287\" class=\"text Jas-1-20\"><em><sup class=\"versenum\">20\u00a0<\/sup>for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God<\/em>. <em>Therefore <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">lay aside<\/span> all filthiness and overflow of wickedness,<\/strong> and <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>receive<\/strong> with meekness the implanted word<\/span>, which is able to save your souls<\/em>.&#8221; &#8211; There is an exchange we <strong>LAY ASIDE<\/strong> filthiness\/sin &amp; <strong>RECEIVE<\/strong> w\/meekness the<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> Word<\/span> implanted in our hearts.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>We need to <span style=\"color: #800000;\">be <strong>doers<\/strong> of the Word, and not hearers only.<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Remember Jesus&#8217; words :<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0 24 \u201cEveryone then who <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>hears<\/strong> these words of mine <strong>and does them<\/strong><\/span> will be like a <span style=\"color: #800000;\">wise man<\/span> who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it <span style=\"color: #800000;\">did not fall<\/span>, because it had been <span style=\"color: #800000;\">founded on the rock<\/span>. 26 And <strong>everyone who hears these words of mine and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">does not do<\/span> them<\/strong> will be like a <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">foolish man<\/span> who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">great was the fall of it<\/span>.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matt.7%3A24-27&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matt.7:24-27<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>James&#8217; letter challenges each of us personally to examine our faith and to embrace a life of obedience to God&#8217;s Word.
