Yet he did not enter. 6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went inside the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, 7 <span style=\"color: #800000;\">and the cloth that was around His head, not lying with the linen cloths,<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> but wrapped in a place by itself<\/span><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">.<\/span> 8 Then the other disciple, who came first to the tomb, went in also.<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> He saw<strong> and believed<\/strong><\/span>. 9 <strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that He must rise from the dead.<\/span><\/strong> 10 Then the disciples went away again to their own homes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The first day of the week&#8221;, is a <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Sunday<\/span>. The Sabbath changed from Saturday to Sunday right after Jesus Christ rose from the dead. He was resurrected on a Sunday and from then on, believers have been gathering on the first day of the week (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Acts%2020%3A7&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Acts 20:7<\/a>). The Sabbath belongs to the old covenant. Ex.20:8<br \/>\nAfter God created everything, He rested on the Sabbath. But now, the first day of the week started being called &#8220;<em>The Day of the Lord<\/em>&#8221; (Rev.1:10) or &#8220;Dies <strong>Domini&#8221;<\/strong> in Latin, were the word &#8216;<strong>Domin<\/strong>go&#8217; (Sunday in Spanish) comes from. Some early Church believers called Sunday also &#8216;<em>the eight day<\/em>&#8216;. It was a very special day.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;<em>By the <span style=\"color: #800000;\">mid-2nd<\/span> century, <strong>Justin Martyr<\/strong> wrote in his apologies about the<strong> cessation of Sabbath observance<\/strong> and the celebration of the first (or eighth) day of the week (<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not as a day of rest<\/span>, but as a day for <strong>gathering to worship<\/strong><\/span>): &#8220;We all gather on the day of the sun&#8221; (\u03c4\u1fc7 \u03c4\u03bf\u1fe6 \u1ffe\u0397\u03bb\u03af\u03bf\u03c5 \u03bb\u03b5\u03b3\u03bf\u03bc\u03ad\u03bd\u03b7 \u1f21\u03bc\u03ad\u03c1\u1fb3, recalling both the creation of light and the resurrection). He argued that <strong>Sabbath was not kept before<\/strong> Moses, and was <strong>only instituted as a sign to Israel and a temporary measure because of Israel&#8217;s sinfulness,<\/strong> no longer needed after <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Christ came without sin<\/span><\/em>.&#8221; Wikipedia.None of the disciples expected Jesus resurrection. They didn&#8217;t understand when Jesus told them before: \u201c<em>Destroy this temple, and in<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> three days<\/span> I will <span style=\"color: #800000;\">raise it up<\/span>.<\/em>\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Jn.2%3A13-22&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Jn.19-21<\/a>, or \u201c<em>Therefore My Father loves Me, because <span style=\"color: #800000;\">I lay down<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> My life that I may take it again<\/span><\/span>. 18 <strong>No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself<\/strong>. I have power to lay it down, and <span style=\"color: #800000;\">I have power to take it again<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">.<\/span>&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Jn.10%3A17-18&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jn. 10:17-18<\/a>, or\u00a0 when He told them &#8220;<strong><span class=\"text John-14-19\" style=\"color: #800000;\"><span class=\"woj\">Because I live, you will live also<\/span><\/span>.<\/strong>&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Jn.14%3A19&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John 14:19<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">2\/ Mary Magdalene Sees the Risen Lord<\/span> \u00a0 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Jn.20%3A11-18&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jn.20:11-18<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>11 But <strong>Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping<\/strong>, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb. 12 And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. 13 Then they said to her, \u201cWoman, why are you weeping?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said to them, \u201cBecause they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>14 Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, \u201c<strong>Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, \u201cSir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>16 <strong>Jesus said to her, \u201cMary!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">She turned and said to Him, \u201cRabboni!<\/span>\u201d (which is to say, Teacher).<\/p>\n<p>17 <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Jesus said to her, \u201cDo not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father<\/span>; but <strong>go to My brethren and say to them, \u2018I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.\u2019 \u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18 Mary Magdalene came and told the [b]disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things to her.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Believing in the resurrection of the Lord<\/span> is a fundamental fact of the Christian faith, the Word of God says: &#8220;<em><span id=\"en-NKJV-28733\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-14\">And<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> if Christ is not risen<\/span><strong>, then our preaching is empty and <\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">your faith is also empty<\/span><strong>. <\/strong><\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28734\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>Yes, <strong>and we are found false witnesses<\/strong> of God, because we have testified of <strong>God<\/strong> that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up\u2014if in fact the dead do not rise. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28735\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28736\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>And <strong>if<\/strong> <strong>Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! <\/strong><\/span><\/em> <span id=\"en-NKJV-28737\" class=\"text 1Cor-15-18\"><\/span>\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Corinthians%2015&amp;version=NKJV;MEV;AKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1 Cor. 15: 1-4 &amp; 13-17.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some people today that even call themselves &#8216;Christians&#8217; don&#8217;t believe that Christ <span style=\"color: #800000;\">rose bodily<\/span> from the dead, but this is a very important fact of the gospel. Some Catholics friends have told me that Jesus resurrected as <strong>a spirit<\/strong>, but that&#8217;s not a &#8216;resurrection&#8217; at all. Jesus Christ came out with a glorified body that will never see death again. <span style=\"color: #800000;\">He is alive!<\/span> This is the resurrection!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/external-content.duckduckgo.com\/iu\/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwellspringchristianministries.org%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2019%2F06%2FJun-13-John-20-21-NKJV.png&amp;f=1&amp;nofb=1&amp;ipt=28d4019262cf79134e594247f5dbb97d3bf8ea71baaaf5a8cb69556f00037513&amp;ipo=images\" width=\"538\" height=\"268\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">3\/ The Apostles Commissioned<\/span> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Jn.20%3A19-23&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jn.20:19-23<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>19 <span style=\"color: #800000;\">On the evening of that first day of the week<\/span>, the doors being locked where the disciples were assembled, <strong>for fear of the Jews,<\/strong> <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Jesus came <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">and stood in their midst, and said to them,<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> \u201cPeace be with you.\u201d<\/span><\/strong>20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. <strong>The disciples were then glad when they saw the Lord.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>21 So Jesus said to them again, \u201c<span style=\"color: #800000;\">Peace be with you. As My Father has sent Me, <strong>even so I send you<\/strong><\/span>.\u201d 22 When He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, \u201c<strong>Receive the Holy Spirit<\/strong>. 23 If you forgive the sins of anyone, they are forgiven them. If you retain the sins of anyone, they are retained.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I can just imagine the joy they must had to see Jesus alive! The Lord commissioned them &amp; gave them the Holy Spirit .<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">4\/ Seeing and Believing<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Jn.20%3A24-29&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jn.20:24-29<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called The Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, \u201cWe have seen the Lord!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But he said to them, \u201c<strong>Unless I see the nail prints in His hands, and put my finger in the nail prints, and put my hand in His side, I will not believe<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>26 After eight days His disciples were again inside with the doors shut, and Thomas was with them. <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Jesus came and stood among them, and said, \u201cPeace be with you.\u201d<\/span> 27 Then He said to Thomas, \u201c<strong>Put your finger here, and look at My hands. Put your hand here and place it in My side. Do not be faithless, but believing<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>28 Thomas answered Him, \u201c<span style=\"color: #800000;\">My Lord and <strong>my God!<\/strong><\/span>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>29 Jesus said to him, \u201cThomas, <strong>because you have seen Me<\/strong>, you have believed. <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Blessed are those who have not seen, and have yet believed.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Tomas called Jesus &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/cristolaverdad.com\/?p=5687\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">God<\/a>&#8216;! We can be counted among those blessed ones because we have not seen &amp; believed.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">5\/ The Purpose- That You May Believe<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Jn.20%3A30-31&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jn.20:30-31<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>The Purpose of the Book<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>30 <strong>Jesus performed many other signs<\/strong> in the presence of His disciples, <strong>which are not written<\/strong> in this book. 31 <span style=\"color: #800000;\">But these are written t<strong>hat you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God,<\/strong> and that believing you may have life in His name.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is the goal of the gospel. The Lord did many more things that were not recorded. In writing this gospel. John did not try to write a biography of Jesus Christ. He wrote that<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> we might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing, we might have life in His name<\/span>. Beloved, it is through <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>believing<\/strong><\/span> that we receive life and are spiritually reborn.
