But decided to please the Jews by scourging Jesus. Our Lord was beaten so much that He was practically unrecognizable. In this regard, we remember what the prophet Isaiah said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Isaiah+52%3A13-14&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960;NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">52:14<\/a>: &#8220;<em>As many were astonished at you, <span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text Isa-52-14\">his visage was so marred, more than any man<\/span><\/span><\/em>&#8221; (for His appearance was so disfigured).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">2\/ Pilate\u2019s Decision \u00a0<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Jn.19%3A5-16&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jn.19:5-16<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>5 Then Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, \u201cHere is the Man!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>6 When<strong> the chief priests and officers saw Him<\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">, they cried out, \u201cCrucify Him! Crucify Him!\u201d<\/span> Pilate said to them, <strong>\u201cTake Him yourselves and crucify Him, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">for I find no guilt in Him<\/span>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>7 The Jews answered him, \u201cWe have a law, and by our law He ought to die,<strong> because He made Himself the Son of God!<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>8 When Pilate heard these words, he was more afraid, 9 and entered the Praetorium again, and said to Jesus, \u201cWhere are You from?\u201d But Jesus gave him no answer. 10 P<strong>ilate said to Him, \u201cAre You not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have power to release You, and power to crucify You?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>11 Jesus answered, \u201c<span style=\"color: #800000;\">You would have no power at all over Me, unless it were given to you from above. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Therefore he who handed Me over to you has the greater sin<\/span><\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>12<strong> From then on, Pilate tried to release Him<\/strong>. But the <strong>Jews<\/strong> cried out, \u201c<strong>If you release this Man, you are not Caesar\u2019s friend. Whoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>13 When Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out and sat down on <span style=\"color: #800000;\">the judgment seat<\/span> at a place called The Pavement (which in Hebrew is Gabbatha).<\/p>\n<p>14 It was the Day of Preparation of the Passover and about the sixth hour.<strong> He said to the Jews, \u201cHere is your <span style=\"color: #800000;\">King<\/span>!<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>15 But <strong>they shouted, \u201cAway with Him!<\/strong> Away with Him!<strong> Crucify Him!<\/strong>\u201d Pilate said to them, \u201cShall I crucify your King?\u201d <span style=\"color: #800000;\">The chief priests answered, \u201cWe have no king but Caesar!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>16 Then<strong> he handed Him over to them to be crucified<\/strong>. So they took Jesus and led Him away.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>By the other gospel narratives we find out that Pilate&#8217;s wife sent him a message: &#8220;<span class=\"text Matt-27-19\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19\u00a0<\/sup><em>While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, \u201c<strong>Have nothing to do with that just Man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of Him<\/strong><\/em>.\u201d . . . <\/span><em>24 <span style=\"color: #800000;\">When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all<\/span>, but rather that a tumult was rising, <span style=\"color: #800000;\">he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, \u201cI am innocent of the blood of this just Person<\/span>. You see to it.\u201d 25 And <strong>all the people answered and said, \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #800000;\">His blood be on us and on our children<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">.<\/span><\/em>\u201d <span id=\"en-NKJV-24149\" class=\"text Matt-27-19\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew+27%3A11-56&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960;NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matt. 17:19, 24-25<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Jewish leaders were willing to accuse Pilate before Rome or Cesar of allowing subversion. And because Pilate didn&#8217;t want trouble with Caesar, he let his political position take precedence over justice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/external-content.duckduckgo.com\/iu\/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi1.wp.com%2Fwww.christianwallpaperfree.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2018%2F03%2FJohn-19-Verse-17.jpg%3Ffit%3D1920%252C1200%26ssl%3D1&amp;f=1&amp;nofb=1&amp;ipt=3fccd3e4de229bc109b04a94c72bb2efb272065dc8b62acdcec00a2ddc55f70e&amp;ipo=images\" width=\"309\" height=\"193\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">3\/ The King on a Cross<\/span> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Jn.19%3A17-24&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jn.19:17-24<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>17 And<strong> He, bearing His cross, went out to a place called the Place of a Skull,<\/strong> which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha, 18 where <span style=\"color: #800000;\">they crucified Him,<\/span> and two others with Him, one on either side, and Jesus in the center. 19 Now Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was:<\/p>\n<p>JESUS OF NAZARETH, <strong>THE KING<\/strong> OF THE JEWS.<\/p>\n<p>20 Then many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin.<\/p>\n<p>21 Therefore the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, \u201cDo not write, \u2018The King of the Jews,\u2019 but, \u2018He said, \u201cI am the King of the Jews.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>22 Pilate answered, \u201cWhat I have written, I have written.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments and made four parts, to each soldier a part, and also the tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, woven from the top in one piece. 24 They said therefore among themselves, \u201cLet us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be,\u201d <strong>that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span style=\"color: #800000;\">They divided My garments among them,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\">And for My clothing they cast lots<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Therefore the soldiers did these things.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There at the cross was made a transaction for the sins of the world, which is beyond our comprehension. The apostle John didn&#8217;t give us a detailed description of the crucifixion. He just mentioned the place &amp; gave very few details. But none of the Gospel writers described the details\u00a0 of the sufferings of Jesus death. They were careful not to use language or descriptions that could manipulate emotions; they simply told the story.<\/p>\n<p>(Note: There is very popular movie that does that which account are not from the Bible but many of the scenes, including of the crucifixion, were taken from the visions of a <a href=\"http:\/\/cristolaverdad.com\/?p=6530\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>mystic<\/strong><\/a> nun who bore the stigmata, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wikiwand.com\/en\/Anne_Catherine_Emmerich\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Anne Catherine Emmerich<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/christianity.stackexchange.com\/questions\/31056\/what-is-the-catholic-churchs-view-of-anne-catherine-emmerich-can-her-visions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1<\/a>), who claimed to have seen visions of pagans in the purgatory which is contrary to the Catholic faith, but also visions of the passion, death and resurrection of \u201cChrist\u201d.\u00a0 Mel Gibson (Who belongs to the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20240210060318\/https:\/\/www.jcpa.org\/phas\/phas-minerbi-s05.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Opus Dei<\/a>, as well as his director\u2019s assistant Jan &amp; Alberto Michelini-https:\/\/odan.org\/media_passion) stated that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the goal &amp; intention for making the film<\/span>: \u201cis to shake modern audiences by brashly juxtaposing the \u201csacrifice of the cross with the sacrifice of the altar (Eucharist) \u2013which is the same thing.\u201d A sacrifice that is offered continually, this is the Catholic doctrine of Transubstantiation.\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; Please check this articles for more information on \u2018The Passion of the Christ\u2019 :<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblebb.com\/files\/mel_gibsons_vivid_deception.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Passion of the Christ<\/a>, by Richard Bennett, ex-Catholic Priest).<\/p>\n<p>Jesus fulfilled at least <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gotquestions.org\/prophecies-of-Jesus.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">300<\/a> prophecies during His earthly ministry, one of them was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm%2022%3A18&amp;version=MEV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Psalm 22:12<\/a>.
