So they said to him, <strong>\u201cAre you not also one of His disciples?\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text John-18-25\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">He denied it and said, \u201cI am not!<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-MEV-26812\" class=\"text John-18-26\"><sup class=\"versenum\">26\u00a0<\/sup>One of the servants of the high priest, being <strong>a relative of the man whose ear Peter cut off,<\/strong> said, \u201cDid I not see you in the garden with Him?\u201d <\/span> <span id=\"en-MEV-26813\" class=\"text John-18-27\"><sup class=\"versenum\">27<span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Peter then denied it again, and immediately a rooster crowed<\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"module--translations-translatedtext js-module--translations-translatedtext is-placeholder\">\n<p>We learned on John Chap. 13 that Jesus had already predicted Peter&#8217;s denial :<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>36 Simon Peter said to Him, \u201cLord, where are You going?\u201d Jesus answered him, \u201cWhere I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you shall follow Me afterward.\u201d <\/em><em>37\u00a0<strong>Peter said to Him<\/strong>, \u201cLord, why can I not follow You now? <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>I will lay down my life for Your sake.<\/strong><\/span><strong>\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em><em>38\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\">Jesus<\/span> answered him, \u201cWill you lay down your life for My sake? <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Most assuredly, I say to you, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied Me <strong>three times.<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"module--translations-translatedtext js-module--translations-translatedtext is-placeholder\" data-size=\"m\">In those days, when someone made the comment \u201cbefore the rooster crows,\u201d it would have been commonly understood to mean the crowing at daybreak. When we read the other Gospel accounts we find they mention, that right after denying the Lord for the third time <strong>Peter went out &amp; wept bitterly<\/strong>:<\/div>\n<div data-size=\"m\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"module--translations-translatedtext js-module--translations-translatedtext is-placeholder\" data-size=\"m\"><em>And <strong>the Lord turned and looked at Peter.<\/strong> Then Peter <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">remembered the word that the Lord had spoken to him:<\/span> \u201cBefore the rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.\u201d 62 <span style=\"color: #800000;\">And he went outside and<strong> wept bitterly<\/strong>.<\/span> 63 The men who were holding Jesus began to <strong>mock Him and beat Him<\/strong>.\u2026<\/em> ( <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Luke+22%3A59-63&amp;version=NKJV;AKJV;MEV;RVA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Luke 22:61-63<\/a>).<\/div>\n<div data-size=\"m\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"module--translations-translatedtext js-module--translations-translatedtext is-placeholder\" data-size=\"m\">But Jesus didn&#8217;t rejected Peter, he was forgiven. Jesus personally appeared to Peter after His resurrection, &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+21%3A15%E2%80%9319&amp;version=NKJV;AKJV;MEV;RVA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a restored<\/a> &amp; fearless Peter preached the first sermon on the day of Pentecost. Peter&#8217;s denial &amp; the rooster was recorded in all 4 gospels.<\/div>\n<div data-size=\"m\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"module--translations-translatedtext js-module--translations-translatedtext is-placeholder\" data-size=\"m\">Now when I hear a rooster crow it reminds me of this story &amp; the need for us<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong> to be watchful<\/strong><\/span>, because before His arrest Jesus was praying in the garden &amp; asked His disciples to do the same, but they had fallen sleep : &#8220;<em>Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said<strong> to Peter<\/strong>, \u201cWhat! Could you not watch with Me one hour? <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Watch and pray<\/strong>, that ye enter not into temptation<\/span>: <strong>the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak<\/strong>.<\/em>&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew+26%3A38-41&amp;version=NKJV;AKJV;MEV;RVA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matt.26:38-41<\/a>). That&#8217;s exactly what happened to Peter, when later that same night he fell into temptation &amp; denied the Lord, but the rooster&#8217;s crow helped to remind him his weakness &amp; the words of Jesus full of truth.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/external-content.duckduckgo.com\/iu\/?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftse3.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DOIP.8vAhdFxP0Bqx8PGEYcy1fAHaEK%26pid%3DApi&amp;f=1&amp;ipt=e4ff94d675dea25c161bf09589dbeecc1666b511c1dcc08e3cc8fa2fc97675c8&amp;ipo=images\" width=\"396\" height=\"222\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">6\/ Jesus Before Pilate\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Jn.18%3A28-38&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jn.18:28-38<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span class=\"text John-18-28\"><sup class=\"versenum\">28\u00a0<\/sup>Then <strong>they<\/strong> led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Praetorium. It was early. Yet <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>they<\/strong> themselves did not enter the Praetorium, so that they might not be defiled, but might eat the Passover. <\/span><\/span> <span id=\"en-MEV-26815\" class=\"text John-18-29\"><sup class=\"versenum\">29\u00a0<\/sup><strong>Pilate<\/strong> then went out to them and said, <strong>\u201cWhat accusation do you bring against this Man?\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-MEV-26816\" class=\"text John-18-30\"><sup class=\"versenum\">30\u00a0<\/sup>They answered him, \u201cIf He were not an evildoer, we would not have handed Him over to you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-MEV-26817\" class=\"text John-18-31\"><sup class=\"versenum\">31\u00a0<\/sup><strong>Then Pilate said, \u201cTake Him and judge Him <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">according to your law.<\/span>\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text John-18-31\">The Jews said to him, <span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death<\/span>,\u201d <\/span><\/span> <span id=\"en-MEV-26818\" class=\"text John-18-32\"><sup class=\"versenum\">32\u00a0<\/sup>that the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled which He spoke, signifying what death He would die.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-MEV-26819\" class=\"text John-18-33\"><sup class=\"versenum\">33\u00a0<\/sup>Again Pilate entered the Praetorium, called Jesus, and said to Him, <strong>\u201cAre You the King of the Jews?\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-MEV-26820\" class=\"text John-18-34\"><sup class=\"versenum\">34\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus answered him, <span class=\"woj\">\u201cAre you speaking of your own accord, or did others tell you about Me?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-MEV-26821\" class=\"text John-18-35\"><sup class=\"versenum\">35\u00a0<\/sup>Pilate answered, \u201cAm I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests handed You over to me. What have You done?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-MEV-26822\" class=\"text John-18-36\"><sup class=\"versenum\">36\u00a0<\/sup><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Jesus answered, <span class=\"woj\">\u201c<strong>My kingdom is not of this world<\/strong>. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would fight, that I would not be handed over to the Jews. But now <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">My kingdom is not from here<\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-MEV-26823\" class=\"text John-18-37\"><sup class=\"versenum\">37\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore Pilate said to Him, \u201c<strong>Then are You a king?<\/strong>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text John-18-37\">Jesus answered, <span class=\"woj\">\u201c<span style=\"color: #800000;\">You say correctly that<strong> I am a king<\/strong>.<\/span> For this reason I was born, and for this reason <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">I came into the world, to bear <strong>witness to the truth<\/strong>. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Everyone who is of the truth <strong>hears My voice<\/strong><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-MEV-26824\" class=\"text John-18-38\"><sup class=\"versenum\">38\u00a0<\/sup><strong>Pilate said to Him, \u201cWhat is truth?<\/strong>\u201d When he had said this, he went out again to the Jews and said to them, \u201cI find no guilt in Him at all.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"module--translations-translatedtext js-module--translations-translatedtext is-placeholder\" data-size=\"s\">Jesus predicted many times his arrest &amp; death to His disciples (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Marcos+10%3A32-33&amp;version=NKJV;AKJV;MEV;RVA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mark 10:32-33<\/a>), but He willingly accepted to die on the cross for us.<\/div>\n<div data-size=\"s\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"module--translations-translatedtext js-module--translations-translatedtext is-placeholder\" data-size=\"s\">The word Praetorium denotes the seat of a Roman military governor. The Gospel of John mentions only that Jesus was sent to Caiaphas, and then Caiaphas sent Jesus to Pilate. John focused on Jesus&#8217; appearance before the Roman leader, Pontius Pilate.<\/div>\n<div data-size=\"s\"><\/div>\n<div data-size=\"s\">Notice these men would not enter the Praetorium, because, according to the law, if they entered the house of a non-Jew, they would become contaminated and it would not be possible for them to eat the Passover. So they were very religious or legalistic! They refused to break a relatively small commandments regarding ceremonial defilement. However, they broke a more serious commandments by rejecting God&#8217;s Messiah and condemning an innocent man <strong>to death<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<div data-size=\"s\"><\/div>\n<div data-size=\"s\">Pilate asked what is truth?\u00a0 And Truth was standing right in front of him. Jesus, the only Son of God, was speaking truth to him at that very moment. The truth wasn\u2019t a theory or an equation that many Greek philosophers searched for; <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Truth was God in the flesh dwelling among us<\/span>. Anyone who wants truth that doesn&#8217;t change, must find it in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Jn.14%3A6&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John 14:6.<\/a> \u201c<em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">I am<\/span> the way,<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> the truth<\/span>, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.&#8221;\u00a0 <\/em><\/div>\n<div data-size=\"s\"><\/div>\n<div data-size=\"s\">Jesus did not come to rule over an earthly kingdom. He came to bear witness to the truth of who He is\u2014the Messiah, the Savior of the world.\u00a0<em> &#8211;<\/em>Do you believe Him? If you do, then invite Him &amp;<a href=\"http:\/\/cristolaverdad.com\/?p=5283\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> receive Him into your heart<\/a>, learn His words\/teachings &amp; follow Him. When you do this you become part of His kingdom &amp; He becomes your King.<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">7\/ Jesus Sentenced to Die\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Jn.18%3A39-40&amp;version=MEV;AKJV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jn.18:39-40<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span class=\"text John-18-39\"><sup class=\"versenum\">39\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cBut you have a custom, that I should release someone to you at the Passover.
