If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. 10 But if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.\u201d 11 These things He said, and after that He said to them, \u201c<span style=\"color: #800000;\">Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>12 Then His disciples said, \u201cLord, if he sleeps he will get well.\u201d 13 However, Jesus spoke of his death, but they thought that He was speaking about taking rest in sleep.<\/p>\n<p>14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, \u201c<strong>Lazarus is dead<\/strong>. 15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe. Nevertheless let us go to him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>16 Then Thomas, who is called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, \u201cLet us also go, that we may die with Him.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Lazarus was the brother of Mary &amp; Martha, so the three were siblings (Jn.11:1-2). Jesus was at Bethabara at the other side of the Jordan River (Jn.10:39-40 &amp; 1:28) where He had gone when the Jews in Jerusalem tried to seize Him. Bethabara was about two days&#8217; journey away from Jerusalem, &amp; Bethany was close to Jerusalem. Reason why His disciples were worried He was going back there. (vs.8)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/external-content.duckduckgo.com\/iu\/?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftse1.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DOIP.BfhvW-jIhgxqmJYWLMYrLgAAAA%26pid%3DApi&amp;f=1\" width=\"281\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">2\/ Jesus the Resurrection &amp; the Life<\/span><\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+11%3A17-27&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jn 11:17-27<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>17 So when Jesus came,<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> He found that he had already been in the tomb four days<\/span>. 18 Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away. 19 And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.<\/p>\n<p>20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house. 21 Now Martha said to Jesus, \u201cLord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 <strong>But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>23 Jesus said to her, \u201c<strong>Your brother will rise again.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>24 Martha said to Him, \u201cI know that he will rise again <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">in the resurrection at the last day<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>25 Jesus said to her, \u201c<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>I am the resurrection and the life<\/strong>. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live<\/span>. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>27 She said to Him, \u201c<span style=\"color: #800000;\">Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Lazarus was in the tomb four days which means he die same day Jesus received the news that he was sick. But Jesus knew Lazarus had die even before His trip back to Judea (vs 11 &amp; 14) , also knew was not permanent death but even Lazarus body was decomposing He would restore it &amp; rise him from the dead.<\/p>\n<p>Martha believed Lazarus would rise again in the resurrection<strong> at the last days<\/strong>, vs. 24 a future event that has not yet been fulfilled. &amp; in vs. 27 She expressed the same confession that Peter gave. She understood that <strong>Jesus was the Messiah<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>3\/ Jesus Weeps \u00a0 \u00a0 &#8211;<\/strong><\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Jn%2011%3A28-37&amp;version=AKJV,NKJV,MEV,RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jn 11:28-37<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>28 And when she had said these things, she went her way and secretly called Mary her sister, saying, \u201cThe Teacher has come and is calling for you.\u201d 29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly and came to Him. 30 Now Jesus had not yet come into the town, but was in the place where Martha met Him. 31 Then the Jews who were with her in the house, and comforting her, when they saw that Mary rose up quickly and went out, followed her, saying, \u201cShe is going to the tomb to weep there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>32 Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw Him,<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> she fell down at His feet<\/span>, saying to Him, \u201cLord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>33 Therefore,<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> when <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\">Jesus<\/span> saw her weeping (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G2799\/weeping\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">G2799=<\/a> <em>to wail aloud<\/em>), and the Jews who came with her weeping (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/StrongsNo\/G2799\/weeping\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">G2799=<\/a> <em>to wail aloud<\/em>)<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>He groaned in the spirit<\/strong> and was troubled<\/span>. 34 And He said, \u201cWhere have you laid him?\u201d\u00a0 They said to Him, \u201cLord, come and see.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>35 <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Jesus wept.<\/span> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingjamesbibledictionary.com\/BibleVerse\/John\/11\/35\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">G1145<\/a>= shed tears) 36 Then the Jews said, \u201cSee how He loved him!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>37 And some of them said, \u201cCould not this Man,<strong> who opened the eyes of the blind<\/strong>, also have kept this man from dying?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If Jesus knew Lazaro was going to be raise from the dead then why did He weep? Here Jesus manifested Himself in all His humanity. He was moved with compassion for those who mourn the departure of a loved one, for those who were alive &amp; felt the loss of their loved ones. vs.33.\u00a0 Jesus did not weep for the dead\u00a0 as the Jews thought vs.36.
