3\/\u00a0 The Shepherd Knows His Sheep<\/span>\u00a0 – Jn 10:22-29<\/a><\/p>\n

22\u00a0<\/sup>The Feast of the Dedication was at Jerusalem, and it was winter. <\/span> 23\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon\u2019s Porch. <\/span> 24\u00a0<\/sup>Then the Jews<\/strong> surrounded Him, saying, \u201cHow long will You keep us in suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

25\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus answered them, \u201cI told you, and you did not believe<\/strong><\/span>. The works that I do in My Father\u2019s name bear witness of Me.<\/span> <\/span> 26\u00a0<\/sup>But you do not believe<\/strong>, because<\/span> you are not of My sheep<\/strong>, as I said to you.<\/span> <\/span> 27\u00a0<\/sup>My sheep hear<\/span><\/strong> (G191<\/a>: to give ear to a teaching or a teacher, to hearken <\/em>) My voice, and I<\/strong> know them<\/strong>, and they follow Me<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span> <\/span> 28\u00a0<\/sup>I give them eternal life. They shall never perish, nor shall anyone snatch them from My hand.<\/span> <\/span> 29\u00a0<\/sup>My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them from My Father\u2019s hand.<\/span> <\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This is very important to understand, we are His sheep when we believe<\/strong> His Word<\/span> & as a consequence we follow Him<\/strong>, on the other side the inability to hear\/believe Him shows that they are not of His sheep & they will follow strangers.<\/p>\n

The Feast of Dedication is called today Hanukah, Jesus was not celebrating inside the temple, He was at Solomon’s Porch a covered area next to the temple that people gathered to socialize and discuss before or after their sacrifices and prayers at the temple, and therefore a good place to share the Gospel.<\/p>\n

4\/ Renew Efforts to Stone Jesus<\/span>\u00a0 – Jn 10:30-39<\/a><\/p>\n

\u00a0. . .30<\/sup><\/span>\u00a0 My Father and I are one<\/span>.\u00a0 31 <\/span><\/sup>Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him<\/strong>. <\/span> 32\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus answered them, \u201cMany good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

33\u00a0<\/sup>The Jews answered Him, saying, \u201cFor a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy<\/span>, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God<\/strong>.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

34\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus answered them, \u201cIs it not written in your law,<\/span> \u2018I said, \u201cYou are gods\u201d (G2316<\/a>)\u2019?<\/span> <\/span> 35\u00a0<\/sup>If He called them gods<\/strong>,<\/span> to whom the word of God<\/span> came<\/strong> (and the Scripture<\/span> cannot be broken),<\/span> <\/span> 36\u00a0<\/sup>do you say of Him<\/span> whom the Father sanctified and<\/span> sent into the world, \u2018You are blaspheming<\/span>,\u2019<\/span> because I said, \u2018I am<\/span><\/span> the Son of God\u2019<\/span>?<\/span> <\/span> 37\u00a0<\/sup>If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me;<\/span> <\/span> 38\u00a0<\/sup>but if I do, though you do not believe Me,<\/span> believe the works, that you may know and<\/span>\u00a0believe<\/span> <\/strong><\/span>that the Father is<\/i> in Me, and I in Him<\/span>.\u201d<\/span> <\/span> 39\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore they sought again<\/strong> to seize Him, but He escaped out of their hand.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jesus’ declaration in John 10:30, “I and My Father are one,” claim equal status with God the Father, The Jews accuse Him of being a man<\/strong> that makes himself equal to God, but Jesus is not just a man, He is declaring His deity<\/strong>. We learned in John 8:58<\/a> the Jews also tried before to stone Him for the same reason. The Pharisees were using the law to stone Jesus for a sin of blasphemy without a real cause or support from the Jewish law.<\/p>\n

Jesus answer is referring to Psalm 82:1-8<\/a> which calls unjust judges “gods”, when the only righteous judge is God. The word \u201cgods\u201d here refers to judges<\/strong>, people who had positions of authority and rule, that represented or were bringing the words of God<\/span>, but is not speaking of Divinity<\/strong>, this judges were unjust men . This meaning is seen in Exodus 7:1<\/a> \u201cAnd the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god<\/strong> to Pharaoh<\/em>\u201d . This simply means that Moses was speaking God\u2019s words and would therefore be God\u2019s representative or ambassador before Pharaoh<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Hebrew word Elohim<\/i> (H430<\/a>) also means rulers, judges and is translated \u201cjudges\u201d 28 times<\/a> in King James. That word or expression was used only in the Old Testament, & when Jesus used it here, He was quoting from Psalm 82:6. (I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High<\/strong>. <\/b>But ye shall die like men<\/span><\/strong>, and fall like one of the princes<\/em>).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

5\/ The Believers Beyond the Jordan<\/span>– Jn 10:40-42<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/span>40 Then He went away again beyond the Jordan into the place where John was baptizing at first<\/strong>, and He remained there. 41 Many came to Him and said, \u201cJohn did no sign. But everything that John said about this Man was true<\/strong>.\u201d 42 And many believed in Him<\/strong> there.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The place where John first baptized is most likely Bethabara on the other side of the Jordan River, see John 1:28<\/a><\/p>\n

John the Baptist didn’t perform any miracles or signs, but he presented a true testimony of the Messiah. Jesus is the Messiah, the Christ. He was the one to come.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
