All the people came to Him, and He sat down and taught them. <\/span> <span id=\"en-MEV-26385\" class=\"text John-8-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup><strong>The scribes and Pharisees<\/strong> brought a woman caught in adultery. When they had put her in the middle, <\/span> <span id=\"en-MEV-26386\" class=\"text John-8-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>they said to Him, \u201cTeacher, this woman was caught in the very act of adultery. <\/span> <span id=\"en-MEV-26387\" class=\"text John-8-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>Now Moses in the law commanded us to stone such, but what do You say?\u201d <\/span> <span id=\"en-MEV-26388\" class=\"text John-8-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>They said this,<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> testing Him<\/span>, that they might have something of which to accuse Him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"text John-8-6\">But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear them. <\/span> <span id=\"en-MEV-26389\" class=\"text John-8-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>So when they continued asking Him, He stood up and said to them, <span class=\"woj\">\u201c<strong>Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.\u201d<\/strong><\/span> <\/span><strong> <span id=\"en-MEV-26390\" class=\"text John-8-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>Again He stooped down and wrote on the ground.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-MEV-26391\" class=\"text John-8-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>Being convicted by their conscience, those who heard it went out one by one, beginning with the eldest even to the last. Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. <\/span> <span id=\"en-MEV-26392\" class=\"text John-8-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>When Jesus had stood up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, <span class=\"woj\">\u201cWoman, where are your accusers? Did no one condemn you?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-MEV-26393\" class=\"text John-8-11\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11\u00a0<\/sup>She said, \u201cNo one, Lord.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span class=\"text John-8-11\">Jesus said to her, <span class=\"woj\">\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Neither do I condemn you<\/span>.<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> Go and sin no more<\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NKJV-26394\" class=\"text John-8-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12\u00a0<\/sup>Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, <span class=\"woj\">\u201c<strong>I am<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> the light<\/span> of the world. He <span style=\"color: #800000;\">who<\/span><\/strong><\/span><strong> <span class=\"woj\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">follows Me<\/span> shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We recall that members of the Sanhedrin had met the day before and that there was a division of opinion as to whether Jesus was the Messiah or not. Only Nicodemus (a member of the Sanhedrin) had defended Him. Then the Jews returned to their homes and Jesus went up to the Mount of Olives.<\/p>\n<p>Early in the morning Jesus returned to the temple &amp; was teaching to the people that came to Him, but He was interrupted by the scribes &amp; Pharisees that brought to Him a woman caught in adultery.<\/p>\n<p>This religious people knew the law, see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=levitic+20%3A10&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lev.20:10<\/a>, <strong>the man<\/strong> &amp; the woman committing adultery were to be put to death. They only brought the woman not the man, their intentions was to get Jesus in trouble with the law to accuse Him. John mentions in <a href=\"https:\/\/biblehub.com\/commentaries\/john\/8-20.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">verse 20<\/a>, that He was in the treasury (the offering&#8217;s place) a forecourt of the Temple which was part of the court for women, the women could not enter the other areas, this explains why the Pharisees where able to bring the adulterous woman to this area.<\/p>\n<div data-size=\"s\">\n<p>We don&#8217;t know what Jesus wrote on the ground with His finger but it is interesting to note that the book of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Jeremiah+17%3A13&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jeremiah<\/a> in chapter 17, verse 13 says: &#8220;<em>O Jehovah, hope of Israel! All who leave you will be put to shame; and <strong>those who turn away from you will be written in the dust,<\/strong> because they left Jehovah , spring of living waters<\/em> &#8220;.\u00a0 These religious people knew this for sure.<\/p>\n<p>This incident remind us what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Juan+3%3A17&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John 3:17<\/a> says:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-size=\"s\">\n<blockquote><p><span id=\"en-NKJV-26138\" class=\"text John-3-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">For <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">God did not send His Son into the world to condemn<\/span> the world, but <span style=\"color: #800000;\">that the world <strong>through Him<\/strong> might be saved<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div data-size=\"s\">However, Jesus continued saying,<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div data-size=\"s\">&#8220;<span id=\"en-NKJV-26140\" class=\"text John-3-19\"><span class=\"woj\">And <strong>this is the condemnation<\/strong>,<\/span> <span class=\"woj\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">that <strong>the light has come into the world<\/strong>, and men <strong>loved <\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">darkness<\/span> rather than light,<\/span> because their deeds were evil.<\/span><\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-26141\" class=\"text John-3-20\"><sup class=\"versenum\">20\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">For<\/span> <span class=\"woj\">everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.<\/span><\/span>.&#8221; (John 3:19-20)<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div data-size=\"s\">The Feast of Tabernacles also called Feast of Booths or Sukkot in Hebrew lasted seven days of feasting, but the eighth day was to be \u201ca holy convocation\u201d when they were to cease from work and offer another sacrifice to God (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=lev.+23%3A33-44&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leviticus 23:33-44<\/a>). It marked the end of their religious calendar year, &amp; this feast was a time of joyous celebration called \u201cseason of our rejoicing\u201d as the Israelites celebrated God\u2019s provision for them. A water-drawing ceremony began the festivities every morning.<\/div>\n<div data-size=\"s\">\n<p>The day in this passage was the 8th day or their holy convocation, that ended with a torchlight procession with caravans of Jewish pilgrims from far away lands that went up to the temple in Jerusalem, in a great ceremony called the &#8220;Illumination of the Temple,&#8221; which involved the lighting of four golden oil-fed menorahs, 75 feet high, in the Court of Women. Jesus took this opportunity to tell them <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">&#8216;I&#8217;m the Light of the world&#8217;.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-size=\"s\"><\/div>\n<div data-size=\"s\"><\/div>\n<div data-size=\"s\">\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\" data-size=\"s\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone \" src=\"https:\/\/external-content.duckduckgo.com\/iu\/?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftse1.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DOIP.SyYsr3y6xFgDVopw9SiihAHaFj%26pid%3DApi&amp;f=1\" width=\"374\" height=\"280\" \/><\/div>\n<div data-size=\"s\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-size=\"s\"><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div data-size=\"s\"><\/div>\n<div data-size=\"s\">\n<div data-size=\"s\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">2\/ Jesus bears witness of Himself &#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+8%3A13-20&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Jn 8<\/a>:13-20<\/span><\/div>\n<div data-size=\"s\">\n<blockquote><p>13 <strong>The Pharisees<\/strong> therefore said to Him, \u201cYou bear witness of Yourself; Your witness is not true.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>14 Jesus answered and said to them, \u201cEven if I bear witness of Myself, My witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but<strong> you do not know where I come from and where I am going<\/strong>. 15 <span style=\"color: #800000;\">You judge according to the flesh<\/span>; I judge no one. 16 And yet if I do judge, <strong>My judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent Me<\/strong>. 17 It is also written in your law that the testimony of two men is true. 18 I am One who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>19 Then they said to Him, \u201cWhere is Your Father?\u201d Jesus answered, \u201c<span style=\"color: #800000;\">You know neither Me nor My Father. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also<\/span>.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Because of Jesus&#8217; message &amp; miracles they could see that He came from God, even a pharisee like Nicodemus recognized that : <span id=\"en-MEV-26123\" class=\"text John-3-2\">\u201c<em>Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher who has<strong> come from God<\/strong>.
