On each of these occasions the Lord went up to Jerusalem to deliver important discourses in which <strong>He identified <\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Himself as the fulfillment<\/span> <strong>of the spiritual significance that each of these <\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">feasts<\/span><strong> had<\/strong>. But we must also realize that each section addresses new issues of vital importance. Thus in chapter 5 the relationship of the <span style=\"color: #000080;\">Son to the Father<\/span> was presented, while in chapter 6 it was His <span style=\"color: #000080;\">relationship to His true disciples<\/span>. Now throughout this chapter 7 we will see that the dominant theme will be the<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> relationship with the Holy Spirit<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">1\/ <span id=\"en-MEV-26213\" class=\"text John-5-2\">Jesus\u2019 Brothers Disbelieve, <a href=\"https:\/\/classic.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+7%3A1-9&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John 7:1-9<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"chapter-1\"><span class=\"text John-7-1\"><span class=\"chapternum\">7 <span id=\"en-NKJV-26331\" class=\"text John-7-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">1<\/sup><\/span><\/span>After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; for He did not want to walk in Judea, because the<strong> Jews sought to kill Him<\/strong>. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-26331\" class=\"text John-7-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>Now the Jews\u2019 <span style=\"color: #800000;\">Feast of Tabernacles<\/span> <strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">was at hand<\/span><\/strong>. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-26332\" class=\"text John-7-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/sup><strong>His brothers<\/strong> therefore said to Him, \u201cDepart from here and go into Judea, that Your disciples also may see the works that You are doing. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-26333\" class=\"text John-7-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>For no one does anything in secret while he himself seeks to be known openly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.\u201d <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-26334\" class=\"text John-7-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/sup><strong>For even His brothers did not believe in Him.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NKJV-26335\" class=\"text John-7-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>Then Jesus said to them, <span class=\"woj\">\u201c<em>My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.<\/em><\/span> <\/span><em> <span id=\"en-NKJV-26336\" class=\"text John-7-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\" style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>The world<\/strong> cannot hate you, but <strong>it hates Me<\/strong><\/span> <span class=\"woj\">because I testify of it <strong>that its works are evil.<\/strong><\/span> <\/span> <\/em><span id=\"en-NKJV-26337\" class=\"text John-7-8\"><em><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\">You go up to this feast. <strong>I am not<\/strong><\/span> <span class=\"woj\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">yet<\/span><\/strong> going up to this feast,<\/span> <\/em><span class=\"woj\"><em>for <strong>My time<\/strong> has not yet fully come<\/em>.\u201d<\/span> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-26338\" class=\"text John-7-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>When He had said these things to them, He remained in Galilee.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Jesus&#8217; family, who also participated in this celebration, began preparations to go to Jerusalem. And it was then that there was a certain disagreement between Jesus and his brothers. These brothers were the children that Joseph and Mary had after the virgin birth of Jesus. They had already been mentioned by John at the beginning of Jesus&#8217; public ministry (Jn 2:12) and their names appear in (Mt 13:55). -Acts 1:14 says that Jesus&#8217; disciples \u201c<em>all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and <strong>Mary the mother of Jesus,<\/strong> and <span style=\"color: #800000;\">with His brothers<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">.<\/span>\u201d So Jesus&#8217; brothers eventually became believers and one of them, James, even became a Christian leader. But that&#8217;s after Jesus&#8217; resurrection.<\/p>\n<p>This was one of the <strong>3 feasts<\/strong> (Passover, Pentecost &amp; Tabernacles) that every Israelite was to celebrate in Jerusalem (Dt 16:16).\u00a0 The Feast of Tabernacles lasted <strong>7<\/strong> days (Lv 23:42-43) and was celebrated <strong>5<\/strong> days after the great Day of Atonement or Yom Kipur (Nm 29: 7,12), therefore the idea of<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> joy<\/span> after redemption and <span style=\"color: #800000;\">forgiveness of sins<\/span> was very prominent.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">2\/ Jesus at the<strong> Feast of Tabernacles<\/strong> ,<a href=\"https:\/\/classic.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+7%3A10-24&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> John 7:10-24<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>10 However, after His brothers had gone up to the feast, then He also went up, not publicly, but secretly. 11 <strong>Then the Jews looked for Him at the feast, and said, \u201cWhere is He?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>12 There was much complaining among the people <span style=\"color: #800000;\">concerning Him<\/span>. For some said, \u201c<strong>He is a good Man<\/strong>.\u201d Others said, \u201cNo, He deceives the people.\u201d 13 Yet no one spoke openly of Him for fear of the Jews.<\/p>\n<p>14 Now about the<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> middle of the feast<\/span> Jesus went up<strong> into the temple<\/strong> and began<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> teaching<\/span>. 15 The Jews marveled, saying, \u201cHow has this Man become<strong> educated, having never been taught?<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>16 Jesus answered them, \u201c<strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">My teaching<\/span> is not Mine, but <span style=\"color: #800000;\">His<\/span> who sent Me<\/strong>. 17<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> If any man desires to do His will<\/span>, <strong>he shall know whether the teaching is from God<\/strong> or whether I speak on My own authority. 18 <span style=\"color: #000080;\">He who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory.<\/span> But He who<strong> seeks the glory of Him<\/strong> who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him. 19 Did Moses not give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill Me?\u201d . . . . . . .\u00a0 <span id=\"en-MEV-26353\" class=\"text John-7-24\"><sup class=\"versenum\">24\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\"><strong>Do not judge according to appearance<\/strong>, but<span id=\"en-NKJV-26353\" class=\"text John-7-24\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> judge<\/span> <\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">with righteous judgment<\/span><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Jews implied that they had a problem accepting Jesus&#8217; doctrine because He was not taught by them, they didn&#8217;t know where His teachings came from. But in His response, Jesus tells them that their real problem lay in the fact that they were <span style=\"color: #800000;\">unwilling to do God&#8217;s will<\/span> (Jn.7:17). If we desire to<strong> follow God &amp; do His will<\/strong> we need to know weather a teaching we hear is from God, from His Word or is from the teacher own interpretation &amp; his own ideas <span id=\"en-AKJV-27535\" class=\"text Acts-17-11\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Acts+17%3A11&amp;version=AKJV;NKJV;YLT;WEB\">Acts 17:11<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>False teachers preach that we are not suppose to <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>judge<\/strong><\/span> but this isn&#8217;t biblical, <strong>we are to judge<\/strong>, but with a righteous judgment, which is according with\u00a0 God&#8217;s Word &amp; not our own ideas. We need to judge to avoid danger &amp; to separate<strong> false from sound<\/strong> doctrine. But we don&#8217;t judge to condemn people or to put them down, only to restore them, or to separate from evil deeds. More<a href=\"https:\/\/www.av1611.org\/crock\/judbynum.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220328053630\/https:\/\/external-content.duckduckgo.com\/iu\/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fimages.knowing-jesus.com%2Fw%2F900%2F43-JOHN%2FJohn%25207-17%2520Knowing%2520The%2520Will%2520of%2520God-gold.jpg&amp;f=1&amp;nofb=1\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Regarding the development of the feast, <span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b C1N51c\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"es\" data-phrase-index=\"0\">different <\/span><\/span> sacrifices were carried out to show the gratitude they felt towards God (Nm 29: 12-38). The festival reached its summit on &#8220;the <strong>last and great day<\/strong> of the feast&#8221; in which special ceremonies were held.<br \/>\nAt the same time that sacrifices were offered, a priest, accompanied by a joyous procession with music, descended to the pool of &#8216;Siloam&#8217; <span class=\"tablestyle\">(which means &#8216;Sent&#8217;)<\/span>, from where he drew <strong>water<\/strong> that would later be poured next to the altar. With this <strong>outpouring of water<\/strong> they wanted to symbolize the future <span style=\"color: #800000;\">outpouring of the Holy Spirit <\/span>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingjamesbibleonline.org\/Isaiah-44-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Is 44:3<\/a>). <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The entire chapter revolves around the Feast of Tabernacles. As we can notice, there are references to the beginning, the middle and the end of the feast:<br \/>\nThe beginning of the feast (Jn 7: 2).<br \/>\nHalf of the feast (Jn 7:14).<br \/>\nThe last and great day of the feast (Jn 7:37).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">3\/ Could This Be the<strong> Christ?<\/strong>\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/classic.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+7%3A25-31&amp;version=AKJV;MEV;NKJV;RVR1960\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John 7:25-31<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span class=\"text John-7-25\"><sup class=\"versenum\">25\u00a0<\/sup>Now some of them from Jerusalem said, \u201c<em>Is this not He whom they seek to kill? <\/em><\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-26355\" class=\"text John-7-26\"><sup class=\"versenum\">26\u00a0<\/sup>But look! He speaks boldly, and they say nothing to Him. <em><strong>Do the rulers know<\/strong> indeed that this is truly the Christ?<\/em> <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-26356\" class=\"text John-7-27\"><sup class=\"versenum\">27\u00a0<\/sup>However, we know where this Man is from; but when the Christ comes, no one knows where He is from.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NKJV-26357\" class=\"text John-7-28\"><sup class=\"versenum\">28\u00a0<\/sup>Then Jesus cried out, as He taught in the temple, saying, <span class=\"woj\">\u201c<em>You both know Me, and you know where I am from; and<\/em><\/span><em> <span class=\"woj\">I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me<\/span> <span class=\"woj\">is true,<\/span> <span class=\"woj\">whom you do not know.<\/span> <\/em><\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-26358\" class=\"text John-7-29\"><em><sup class=\"versenum\">29\u00a0<\/sup><span class=\"woj\" style=\"color: #800000;\">But <\/span><\/em><span class=\"woj\"><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me<\/span><\/em>.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NKJV-26359\" class=\"text John-7-30\"><sup class=\"versenum\">30<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/sup><strong>Therefore they sought to take Him<\/strong>; but no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NKJV-26360\" class=\"text John-7-31\"><sup class=\"versenum\">31\u00a0<\/sup><span style=\"color: #800000;\">And many of the people believed in Him,<\/span> and said, \u201c<em>When the Christ comes, will He do more signs than these which this Man has done?<\/em>\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In this passage there are a lot of <span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"es\" data-phrase-index=\"0\">questions about Jesus &amp; who He is.
